Anyone else looking to get this kit? I have quite a few of Ridgid's X4 tools and I really like them.

I just noticed that yesterday the kit dropped on the Home Depot website and now its gone. It even had two reviews even though the kit is not available for sale yet.

Many of the youtube and online tool reviewers got a sneak peak set and they look like really solid tools. Especially stoked for the new circular saw and impact driver.

I donated my Rigid power tools to a HVAC tech that was just starting out. I can't keep the batteries from going bad. He didn't have any so I donated my stuff to him but seriously the battery's from Rigid are or at least we're terrible. A local company near me that rebuilds power tool batteries said the problem is with the charger and advised me not to purchase them. Maybe they've imoroved...

Properly registered Ridgid power tools for life-time service agreement cover the tool and batteries making Ridgid an intriguing brand to own since all brands of batteries will eventually fail. The recent update to the GenX5 power tools makes them competitive again.

I have the Gen5X kit.....they are very impressive for brushed tools. The impact driver is flat out awesome! I have done full reviews on everything except the Circular Saw so far....and that one is coming up soon once I am done with the runtime testing.

Here are all the videos I have done so far .....

I like my Gen 4 (X4) impact driver and drill. The Hyper Lithium batteries are still going strong after 2.5 years.

Still have all my X3 gear, works well but didn't get warrantee registered in time. Would rather have the Milwaukee 5 year without the hassle.

Woodstock- I liked your videos. I'm wondering when the tools will be available on HD's website or in store. $499 sounds like a great price plus you get the LSA.

Thanks!

I would assume once they clear out the stock of Gen4 kits/tools.....if they release the Gen5X kits prior to selling off the Gen4's --- I'd imagine that Home Depot would clearance them all out to get the shelf space cleared up.

I was told late March....but I dont have any definite dates.

If ridgid added more of the automotive line up like teamRed, I think they would be a force to deal with. This new lineup looks awesome.

I recently had a battery replaced and apart from dealing with an idiot at the local HD rental counter who wanted me to leave the entire tool with him, it was painless. The replacement battery was even automatically registered to my account.

So I assume the X5 batteries do not fit an X5 which means two battery and charger styles if I have both series?

I think the batteries are the same. They are the 4.0 ah batteries. Should be interchangeable with the X4 tools. I think the new gen refers mostly to the permanent magnet motors.

Ridgid is really good about backwards compatibility. The batteries that come with the latest X5s even work perfectly in the old X2 stuff.

hopefully they offer a 3/8 impact i am starting to look for one and i like lifetime warranties

Just get the 1/2 in impact. It has 300 ft lbs and is on sale I think for $120 bare tool. I've had one since they first came out- awesome tool.

If you want less torque the new X5 impact driver has 2,000 in lbs which is 166 ft lbs. you could always run a 1/4 or 3/8 socket adapter for lighter applications.

Ridgid and Milwaukee are owned by the same company. Not likely they are going to compete against themselves Lorddiesel

I too have been waiting for this kit to come out. Originally planned for end of March I was hoping to already have it in my hands. I have had all the different series of kits since 2006. I buy RIDGID because of the lsa but then never seem to keep the tools because the latest and greatest comes along.

While I still enjoy the 18v stuff, the grinder and impact have been huge additions. I have completely dumped the 12v and switched to milwaukee. There is just no effort put into ridgids 12v lineup and the tools and batteries really aren't that good.

Hopefully the x5 comes along soon. I'll keep checking hd website daily

They updated the site and it now says ships by April 10 and delivered April 16-20. I plan on using the Lowes 10% discount and getting some HD electronic gift cards at a discount to bring the out-the-door cost to around $400. Can't beat that IMO.

I am also selling my X4 Hammer Drill/Impact combo for $300 (I live overseas at the moment where tools are extremely expensive). So I'm upgrading for very little out of pocket. Stoked:beer:

In your basement...seriously, go look now!
The Ridgid X5's look impressive but so did the X4s and a lot of the tool tests I read put them in a JV category (mostly woodworking journals but also general contracting magazines). I don't think the X4 line ***** but I don't feel it is as good as advertised.

HD is now shipping these kits, although I have yet to see any in stores. I ordered mine on 4/13 and UPS says it will be delivered on Tuesday 4/21. I'll post a pic when it's all said and done. My cost was $413 after giftcardzen and Lowes 10%.

@Hild- you'll have to ask Home Depot or call Ridgid. I was told by Ridgid that LSA is only good with a Home Depot receipt, but I'm not sure about Canada.

Got my set in a couple of weeks ago. Awesome tools. It is head and shoulders above the Ridgid X4 stuff. The impact driver alone is worth it. The adjustable torque settings are something you actually need. Plus the two 4.0 ah batteries make all the tools run great.

Let me know if you want some pics and I'll post them up

Just an FYI, this set is down to 399 on the website. A couple of my local stores listed that they have stock even though I havent seen them on the floor, so you might be able to order online at the 399 price for in store pickup.

People on Slickdeals are also having success with various competitor coupons (HF, Lowes, etc) to get another 10-20% off.
