Painting question.

I am finally getting to the paint stage of my shop build and painting the stripe. Most of the outlets are in the stripe and I would like to paint the faceplates and outlets to match the stripe. Is this possible? How do you make the paint stick to the plastic? Thanks for any tips.

I was at a place the other day and saw they had wooden covers in stock...If you want to go that route.

For optimum adhesion and longevity,scuff/sand them,then clean them with wax/grease remover (house hold rubbing alcohol will work also) then spray an adhesion promoter,then spray your color.

Hard to tell from pics, but it looks like the paint color is grey. I would not attempt painting the outlets; they will just get all scratched-up from plugging things in and out and look terrible over time.

I would get colored outlets, you can get them in just about any color, I think black would look nice with the grey walls.

You could get grey outlets and switches.. Most likely easier to find than black.. I had a heck of a time finding black switches and then multi switch plates .. I ended up painting a lot of white plates with black krylon.

I used diamond plate outlet covers like these. Lowes and others carry them, you might find them cheaper online

Scuff them up with a red Scotchbrite pad, wipe clean as stated in previous posts and paint them with the same paint you are using on the walls. Mine were done that way 15 years ago, and still look good.
