Profit

(in all honesty I sold my Snap On one and have been much happier with the Milwaukee, nice price regardless though!)

:lol_hitti

The milwaukee looks nice and the price isn't to bad but still plenty, i just got the same snap on 1/2 for $300 brand new and couldn't pass the deal up.

I love Cornwell boxes. Almost bought the same combo a few years back. Wish I had pulled the trigger. Love the drawer pulls. The best I have ever used

Amazon either sources from illegitimate channels or buys in such large quantities that they can price many items at or below the cost of a small independent dealer. I've seen it quite a bit too. If its not at cost its not much higher. Then people scoff at the little guy trying to make a reasonable profit and ask for price matching.

Likewise they can afford to make little or no profit and not be effected because they move such a volume of other products that it doesn't matter. All big box/mass retailers operate this way, its why most of the little guys have been put out of business.

^this

it's a tough business so we are constantly trying to find ways around to survive

Ok I gotcha. Yeah I seldom order from amazon because I like to support small business's and local people. I would much rather pay a little more and support someone local.
In this case I already checked tho and the price markup on this item particularly was insane through snap-on through their supplemental catalog. Other than that there was nobody local to get it through

I don't know why Snap-On do this cheap etching instead of stamping. In time oil and grease will wipe the markings. They are supposed to be a superior tool company and separate themselves from inferior ones. I guess profits comes before quality for them too these days. I will not buy them..

Same here, I have a few sets that I used professionally for four years that still have the laser etching on them. The guys that work at the transmission shop next door also haven't had any issues with theirs and ATF isn't easy on tool finishes.

John Deere 1/2" metrics. Nothing fancy - COO Taiwan. Price was right and a lifetime guarantee offer from the dealer.
