Thanks guys. I'm glad that you like the new yard art.
My wife saw the soup can and the oil can make over and said that you guys have way too much time on your hands.

I just spent the entire week doing bodywork and painting my sons truck
That was a ton of work but way worth the effort seeing the joy in my sons face as we worked in the garage together

First we took the truck apart, pulled the front and rear bumpers, removed the bed, pulled the door handles, got rid of the glass rubbers and windshield
removed the door dings and dents in the bed and started the sanding process

By tuesday we had painted the truck bed.
Before the clear is sprayed on

Wednesday we painted the hood and roof of the truck and thursday evening we painted the cab sides.

Wow Thanks guys
The father thing is very rewarding having 8 kids (5) boys
On saturday my older son came over to help his younger brother and ended up working on his jeep

It was a great day for me watching the 2 boys working together

So how far has the nut fall from the tree? Do any of the kids collect stuff, or do they buy you all the cool stuff?

I love your sons truck. That body style is one of my favorites and they look so good in black. Is your son on any forums such as gmfullsize.com

You have any more pics and info of that zephyr you posted in the other thread?

Hey Don, that's pretty cool that you 'helped' paint your son's truck. Now, who really worked the hardest?

I think I know.... ;)

Yeh Zeke
I worked the kid as hard as I could but by the end of the day I was beat up and in the sack 1/2 hour before him.
I think that it was all worth it in the end. We are both happy.

Well Herb
Let me tell ya. They are lining up the auction house to sell all the junk before the funeral.
The boy working on the jeep however is a clone He is a regional manager for a string of bodyshops and he gave me the same challenges that I gave my dad while growing up. And his son is following in his dads footsteps as well

Hi Bighead

I don't think that my son with the truck is on any forums with his truck.
He lives in Utah and really likes his truck

The Zephyr is a complete car that I bought in 2003 from the widow of the original owner. It has 36,000 miles on it and is being restored as I type
It is scheduled to return home this Saturday :bounce::bounce::bounce:

This the week that I have been looking for since December
The 1937 Zephyr is scheduled to return from being restored this Saturday and we have invited about 200 of our closer friends to share the unveiling with us.
There will be T.V. cameras here recording the event.
So this week is clean up and look good week.

Thanks INTMD8

My garage is a fun place to hang out and play and I'm fortunate to have plenty of projects and equipment to play with

Thanks for the visit.

Bighead38 and BBChevro

The zephyr came and left again and I signed an agreement not to talk about it or post any pictures until summer.

We did have a great party however and we pulled several very expensive and beautiful cars in for the occasion

Your kidding right? I can't even describe the disappointment. Maybe I'll get a private message with a sneaky pic or two that I promise to keep secret. The car going on a TV show or in a magazine? What show or publication?

Your a pretty cool Dad, those will be memories your sons carry with them the rest of their lives. Some of my fondest memories are of spending time with Dad in the garage. Hmmm, maybe instead of calling you "Dad", they should start calling you "Hollywood"...:bounce:

These scales have pricked my interest and I am on the hunt for several more
They clean up real nicely and with a good friend that has a plating company
decorating these with chrome and brass is a no brainer

and this one is an example of how well these scales clean up

I didn't know you could buy Coca-Cola by the pound...lol. Very nice collection.

Its actually measured in kilo's, according to Crocket on Miami Vice.
I love the Coke scale, is that something that is a repo? or is that the "real thing"? beautiful.

That's pretty good guys.
I hadn't thought of coke for sale lol

The coke scale is just a picture of what can be done to make these scales something special. It isn't mine but the first scale
i posted may look something along those lines when I am finished with it

Thanks for the visits

Hi Don,
No doubt about you, you are a born collector! Looking forward to seeing how the collection grows by November! We have just finished our Collision Repair Expo down in Melbourne and I interviewed Chip Foose who was down here for the Expo. I have interviewed him on a few occasions but for this one I had some questions out of left field. His story on the 'Imposter' that he won the Ridler award with is very good. I will post the pages when they are ready for printing in a few days.
Take care, your buddy 'Down Under' David

Hi Don,
Check out (your readers also) this website: www.lostinthe50s.com.au for an awesome American Car Museum and memorabilia in Newcastle, North of Sydney. It is featured in our May issue of NCR and I plan to visit real soon!
Take care, Dave from Down Under

Hi Dave
I look forward to your visit this year. I have been focused on the corvette build and hope to have it finished by the time you guys are here.

I would like to meet Chip Foose!! I have invited him to several events at the garage but he is very busy. His Dad has been here a few times however.

I looked a the shots of the museum but the youtube link doesn't work

Thanks for thinking of me and sharing the museum with us
Now back to the corvette

I have spent a little time in the party garage.

A couple months ago I shared that I had started an old jack collection.
Well I did find several small jacks and didn't know how I was going to display them. I ran across a very rare Blackhawk porto power table with a built in press on it and decided to use it to display the jacks

Wow what a cool collection Don, I've seen the garage many times on my evening walks, and knew there had to be something cool back there never did I imagine that cool! What an amazing place you've got, definitely a dream Garage, now if I could only catch you outside to say hello to my neighbor.

Hi Herb
Of course I'm still here. I just haven't had anything to post about the party garage because I'm determined to finish the 62 corvette
Thanks for sharing your concern

I think Don is on a road trip again, shopping for goodies he is going to share with us soon :bounce:

Hugo
You know me way too well.
You are spot on. I just returned today from a 3500 mile road trip gathering up a few goodies for the garage.

Notice to Don C,

Be very careful of a visit to the party garage. The addiction is immediate and there is no known cure.:scared: Also, a bride should not be allowed on the same initial trip. The ladies fall in love with the doll collection and Mrs Don's influence in a lot of the cool stuff. I took my bride on my initial trip and now I can't keep her from claiming every vacant foot of wall space for some new acquisition.

Have fun, but plan lots of time. It is a great experience, and you will never find a more gracious host.

I have a little story to tell
I love the GJ for way to many reasons
Back in may of 2014 Ryan started a thread called Hill Acme Tool Engine hoist and posted this picture.

011 by don long, on Flickr

I start reading the comments in late December 2014 and comment #6 states
Anyone in the southwest Arkansas area need one of these hoist? I know of one that has been offered for sale--cheap. It is in the way on property my son leased; owner has tried locally to sell it, but no luck

So I send out a PM Get back a phone number, call and buy this hoist and arrange to pick it up in the spring.

Well its still spring and I just got home from Arkansas with this monster in the back of my truck
