Looks like that's a FPU vice CW?

Zoomie, will you please take a few detail shots of your new "jewelers" vise. Specifically how does the dynamic jaw keep angular position to the static jaw? Is there a key like on the wilton series?
I did a"little" redecorating...![]()
Sure, here you go...
Awesome, thank you.certainly looks homemade, but the base appears to have been a casting at one point in time.
You ****!
That was supoose to be my vise but I'm glad a fellow GJ vise junkie got it.
It has 6-75 on it.Can you check the keyway for a date and see if it has GUAR EXP on it?
Garageguy,---I have one of those that I've had for 4 years and hadn't seen another ACME until about a month ago when Wed4life posted one on page 1338,---post 26760.---It's hard to see in that golden pile of his, but if you look real close in the first pic, it's laying upside-down, right in the center of the pic.---He was supposed to post us some pics of the ACME and the golden pile.---We're still waiting Wed.---And KMScott posted a Wilton WARDS back on page 1201,---post 24006.---Their coming out of the wood-work.

I had to assemble something at work on Thursday and found out that I didn't have enough vise for the job!![]()
Here's a 4" Wilton Cadet. Left unbranded and sold by Wards. I recreated the badge on a foil decal, the original was too far gone to save. Color match is very good. The keyway says GUAR EXP 6-30-55, Autopts showed me in a 1954 catalog that Cadets came, at that time, with a 1 year warranty so that would put this vise at 1953. I can easily state this is the cleanest 100% original Chicago Wilton I've ever had the pleasure to work on.
.
Anybody here near Ravenna, OH? I found a few Reed vises I would like to pickup for my shop.

A day late and a dollar short. I decided to call today about the big Wilton first mentioned here. It had been for sale for almost three weeks and I thought now might be the time to see if he was in an "OBO" frame of mind. And of course - he sold it yesterday. I hope someone here at GJ got it.
It found a new home in NW Arkansas. It is a beast at 131 pounds !

Also finished up this Snap On / Wilton 1760 6", 67 Lbs. 1996.

Gotta chuckle at the irony.![]()

Here is a Desmond Stephan Simplex 8P
Haven't been able to find any info on it but I think it qualifies as a monster vise.
It has about 3-4 coats of paint of different colors on it. Thinking about taking it off and giving it the BLO treatment. Not sure.

Root, I am going to guess that your 8P was the first gen, attached is a brochure from what I figure would be the next gen to yours. These are "S" swivel models, but looking at the pic, it sure looks a lot like yours.
250 lbs, not too shabby, and yours is a real find with that stand![]()

Well Zoom, it appears your were a little more intrigued with the little watch-makers than you let on like.---I wanted it bad, but I have a wife.---If I had of outbid you, I might not have a wife.---But then I could shop for vises like you do.---But I kinda like the old gal.---So there.![]()

Fretters: What's your opinion on this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271822562669
Am I seeing things, or is that Simplex welded to the spacer/base plate?
I noticed that too. Criminal doing something like that for no good reason.
I also noticed that and the question is why .Am I seeing things, or is that Simplex welded to the spacer/base plate?

No kidding, right?
We got it done using a forklift but I need a vise with pipe jaws in the 6" capacity range. A 2C doesn't have the throat depth to clamp pipe large enough![]()
