LED TV and long term storage

We are moving to a new place this fall. Best Buy had an amazing deal on an LG 55" LED TV a month or so ago. I do not plan to use it at our current house (way too much TV, if there is such a thing.) I currently have it stored in my basement. The best spot I could find to store it makes me have to store it on its end. If that makes any sense. Is there any reason that this is not a good idea? Will it damage the TV? Just curious. Thanks for any replies.

It should be fine. Why not buy it when you need it? In 6 months it will be $100 cheaper anyway. Also your warrenty is from the time you buy it. So the longer it sits the less warrenty you get. Buy it online and don't go pick it up for a while. Or buy it there and ask if they can hold it. Then your pick up date is your warrenty start.

We thought about all of that. It was $499. I don't know if it will get much cheaper than that. I understand the warranty as well. I did not buy extended plan. Electronics to me seem to be throw away anyways.

+2 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Same goes for any electronics ........would you by a cell phone because it was good deal and then put it desk drawer for later.........same for any TV.........There will always be a better deal down the road when you really need it.

Boxed LED TVs are sometimes stored at the store on the short end. It doesn't hurt them. You really shouldn't store LED TVs laying flat.

Personally, I prefer my TVs to last long term and not replace them too often. I have plasma TVs that are difficult to replace. I still think my Pioneer plasma still looks great five years later. $500 to me is a lot of money to spend every few years on a TV. I could afford it, but I have better things to do with $500.

We have a 60 and a 50 and have been watching the 70s for almost a year. So far, the above has not come to pass. On the 50s maybe, but they have been out a long time. 60 & 70 same price as last spring more or less. $100 ain't much anyway on a $1400 unit.

Bought my 55" for just under $500 and it's been great. It replaced a 32" that cost $700 just 3-4 years ago. If I had any wall space open, I'd mount the 32" in the garage.

Don't worry about storing it. Drop it off at my house and I'll store it for you on the wall of my garage. Not a problem, glad to do it.
