Diamabrush Grinding Problem

I just finished dry grinding 250 sg ft of acrylic painted garage floor using the Diamabrush prep tool. Instead of the 2-3 hours time estimate that I had received from various sources including this forum, it took about 5 hrs. The majority of that time was spent grinding the acrylic off. Underneath was the original grey, machine finished surface that had to profiled. I made sure that I was not over doing the profile grinding, so that was not the time consuming part of the project. I now have to grind the other 250 sq ft of the garage. Should I use the coating removal tool rather then the prep tool? Any other suggestions on how to speed up the process?

it really depends on the quality of the existing coating....and how good the original surface prep was performed, how good the original product was applied, millage and etc.......here is a before and after pic and video of us using the diamond brush surface preparation tool removing epoxy coating...This floor came out pretty easy!

PRO TIP: Sometimes you may have to soften an existing coating with a floor stripper 1 day prior for faster removal

it really depends..each job is different.

Good luck!

Would the process be faster, including the clean up time, if I wet grind?

no usually it would be worse!

Grinding wet is a MESS. But according to Diamabrush, their video and also their tech team and confirmed with their management, the removal tool needs to be used with some water. Even just a little from a garden sprayer.

Our crew uses all the Diamabrush products on a weekly basis. We NEVER use water when applying resinous coatings, ever. There is no need. Diamabrush makes a great product but if they are saying that, they need come out on a job.

Often a disconnect between people who make it and people who use it... They also say never add any weight.....

Do you have any pics of the new area?....do you know if the existing floor is a "thick film" or" thin film" system?

Let us know?
