I have no idea how or why this is happening, but this is either a legit promo or an error that has yet to be corrected as of last night.

For reference, the online-only club discount is 20%. I'm calling this a double discount since 0.8*0.8 = 0.64, which equates to a 36% discounts.

I'm off to Sears later on to pick up my Cross Force set. I'm strongly debating whether I should order deep offset wrench set or two. I have two SAE sizes and don't foresee "needing" the other three, nor would I frequently use the metric. Still, this discount is almost too huge to pass up! argh!

Edit: I am under the impression that there will be a 10% discount on Wed. I'd say there's a 50/50 chance that this double promo will end (or be corrected) by then, but if it doesn't end and all the discounts compound, we'll have a healthy round two. When considering whether waiting to see if the 10% stacks as well is worth the risk, consider that right now the discount is 36%, and that 10% off of that results in a 42.4% discount. At the worst case scenario, a single 20% Club discount will alone stack with the 10% resulting in a net discount of 28%.

$26.88. It was slightly lower last night with the additional 10% discount, but only by $2. This price is also not including the $5 coupon.

Also, check your private messages 1-2 mins after you see this reply.

You should have gotten a club number when you signed up,. Thats all you need to order online. Just add your # to your profile on Sears web site.

I've tried signing up online twice now. When you complete the fields on the form and submit it, you don't get any membership number back (or at least I didn't). The first time I tried, I later asked the juvenile delinquents behind the counter at Sears what's supposed to happen next, and they told me I'd get a card in the mail in six weeks. It never came. I recently tried signing up again, and still haven't gotten anything. I might try calling them if there's a phone number listed on the CC web site.

Call the 1-800 craftsman club # and they can give it to you over the phone.

I needed the wrench sets like a whole in the head but at that price I could not resist. Picked up both cross force and the professional SAE wrench sets for $148 with tax.

I called them, they told me they had no record of me ever signing up. Maybe I should've tried Internet Explorer or enabled popups in Firefox. Anyway I signed up (again) over the phone, but she told me "the IDs are generated every Wednesday or Thursday" so I can't get my ID until Friday. Seems a little silly.

Stuey, have you used Cross Force wrenches? I've got a set of GearWrench X-Beams and I've found access problems in tight work spaces. The twisted handle along with the open/box end can get in the way. Just thought you'd wanna know.

Just a theory, but if a number works here, then it should give you the discount at checkout as well.

e.g.

7071122222222222
7073456789876543
7076666666666666

etc etc

The membership system seems to be random. I've used my membership number numerous times and I have not received any flyer or acknowledgement in years.

For what it's worth, I am not suggesting, recommending, or encouraging that you use a membership number that is not yours; I merely wish to point out and explore an observation that I made. I wonder if these would be recognized as valid by the checkout process...

I picked it up for $34 and change after tax last night due to the extra 10% discount. But, I'd consider anything under $50 excellent considering the $80 retail price!

I needed the wrench sets like a whole in the head but at that price I could not resist. Picked up both cross force and the professional SAE wrench sets for $148 with tax.
I was almost as tempted. I tossed and turned when I tried to go to sleep last night, considering whether I needed the 13pc sets to replace my current 9pc sets and whether I needed deep offset wrench sets. Logic won me over - this time...

I've used X-Beam and Cross Force, and arrived at the same conclusion as you. However, there were many more times when the increased flat surface area were beneficial vs. the times I needed a slimmer wrench for a confined area. In other words, I wouldn't use Cross Force wrenches exclusively, but they make for an excellent secondary set.

I am still hanging, er dangling with my finger on the trigger, just added a 3 pc extreme set to cart (about $15 with tax).

Dangling points, lots of nice wrenches already, sets are missing useful sizes.

$130 5pc large c-pro sets are $83!!!

THanks Stuey, I love you man!:bounce::bounce:

I've been wanting a set for years, just haven't coughed up the money.

It also knocked $10 off $50 1/2" deep socket sets.

I have good reason to believe that there will be another 10% off sale soon. But, there's no guarantee that the double 20% promo will hold. Nor does it guarantee that what you want won't go out of stock when the price drops slightly.

Actually, there's a free shipping over $200 thing going, too. That's going off ORIGINAL price.

1-1/16, 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-5/16, 1-1/2" c-pro's, 3/8-15/16" offset box c-pro's, and 10-19mm offset box c-pros

Total $210 (normally)

shipped price $134. 36% off. Nice. A single Snap-On 1 1/2" wrench sells for $127.

Geez.... I swore an oath last night that I was NOT going to buy any more tools for a little while.

And that lasted less than 12 hours in the end. I ended pulling the trigger on the 10 pc deep offset box end wrench set after I read thru this thread. Hard to argue with saving $30+ dollars on something I've been wanting for quite a while..... :bounce:

Too bad it wasn't available for local pickup so I could save the cost of shipping....

The free shipping kicks in after you reach $200 before the discount- not hard to get.
Might be going back for seconds to use as gifts.

Not sure if this is the only way, but I go to www.craftsman.com and enter my club number to "sign on". Once I'm signed on, I click on TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT at the top of the page. That takes me to the Sears tool page for shopping.

Im pretty sure the 5pc jumbo pro wrench set is coming up with the discount too. Somehow I feel like SEARS owes me for the discount after the hours it takes to get all the discounts, has to be one of the worst for any retailer

Dang. Anything off the wall I might need? Thought about getting those the big C-Pros, but I really don't need them. I assume this is only for Craftsman branded stuff right?

I got excited about the discounts, but after some browsing I don't see the discount applied to anything I'm looking for. So far just Craftsman stuff
It doesn't work for the newest Craftsman flare nut crowsfeet

BTW - is the only way to see the discount to add it to the cart?

Last night I placed two 5 piece large professional combination wrench sets in my cart (thanks to Stuey). I didn't check out. I checked my cart this morning and there is another 10% off magically added to the 36%. Also got the $5 off coupon and free shipping. Total price for the two sets was $157.14 including tax and free shipping. The regular price for the two sets totals $260. I already have the raised panel versions of these large wrenches, so I don't need these, but the price is too good to pass up. What the hell, my wife is always buying stuff she doesn't need because it's on sale.

It looks like the 10% extra savings is coming through today. I had advanced notice, but was told "Wednesday the 12th". I had assumed that they meant Wednesday the 13th but I guess it was Tuesday the 12th.

haha, anyone still on the fence?

Dang Sears did it again. I loaded up my cart and all the discounts showed up. It was 43% off when I added them this morning. All at once, the discount disappeared and it was down to less than 20% off. Typical. I haven't made it to checkout more than a few times on Sears.com without my discounts disappearing. Tou nearly need to buy each item as soon as you add it to be certain of a discount.

Here's my "happy" story.

I signed up for Craftsman Club. I did not get my number back yet, but used one of the fabriacted numbers. It worked. When I registered at Sears.com; it sent an email to me. The email indicated that if I went to the site from the email I would recieve and extra $5 off. When I did, it gave me the option of printing a coupon. I cheated and printed five of the $5 ones. When I rang out, it gave me 5-$5 credits on the online total!!!!
I ordered a 5 pc HUGE 12pt pro combi set (retail $129) after savings it cost me only $67.63) :bounce:
I ordered the 28 pc SAE and metric full polish 12pt combi retail of $169.99 and recieved it for $124.78.

Then I got free shipping, so the total with tax was $224.36 meaning I saved a total of $107.57..:beer:Thanks so much for the heads up!!!!

Well, I went crazy. Here is what I wound up ordering in 4 different orders (to take full advantage of discounts):

7 pc standard cross force ratcheting
7pc metric cross force ratcheting
10 pc full polish deep offset
11pc standard full polish stubby combi
5pc standard 12pt huge combi set
28pc stand/metric full polish 12pt set

all this would have cost me $694.94, but I got it for $479.10.

What a deal:bounce:

Thanks again for the heads up:bowdown:

I did it the other night, and kept going back and forth adjusting my cart. I once added the 48 piece rethreader set (only 10% off), and removed it (adding it to my gift want list), and I added, removed, added, removed, the large full polished SAE Craftsman wrenches. I already have most of them (missing 1 1/4) and figure it gives me the excuse I need to go to Harry Epstien's for the Wright wrench to fill in that size.

But I did order the larger metric set and the non included 21mm.

That's almost a 32% savings - nice! That's even better than those "20% off $399+" promotions!

You're welcome for the headsup, and thanks for helping to rejuvenate the economy!
