I've been following this thread and decided to get the Husky 52 inch 11 drawer tool box. I got it cause its 22 inches deep versus the 18 that all the other huskys come with. My question is, while looking at home depots specifications of this bix, it states that the assembled width is 56 inches. To me that doesnt make sense otherwise they would name it a 56 inch toolbox instead of a 52. When someone gets a chance can they please do me a favor and measure the actual width of this box not including the handle.

thanks

Just a guess, but they are probably listing the overall assembled length at 56" because of the handle on the end that's probably 4".

This is a very informative thread. To cut to the chase I just bought the Husky 46in from HD. What has not been discussed is that not everyone has 2k to spend on tool boxes. I have had a Sears chest and cabinet for close to 15 years. Being on disability my resources are limited. This is why I chose the Husky. It is made in Vietnam, is easy to roll and it will suit my requirements for some time to come. The fit and finish are top notch from my limited examination. The Harbor Freight tool boxes only came in Red. I despise Red.Anyway with the monies saved on tool storage I am able to purchase more useful tools for my small engine repair.Ken

I really really can't say this often enough - stay away from the 9 and 10 drawer cabinets. I don't understand why the stores always stock the 9 and/or 10 drawer models but the 11 drawer model is available for web purchase only. The 52/9 and 52/10 aren't in the same league as the 52/11 when it comes to build quality, layout, or dimensions.

Once again, I'm very satisfied with this cabinet. For lack of a better system, I've been throwing away all the plastic trays that my wrenches came in, and just laying the tools flat on the rubber mats that came with the cabinet. They stay in place, and everything looks great.

Like Spider Curry said, for the money, this box is very good. I love the space and depth it offers, as well as the wood top for laying out your stuff while you're working. Here're a few drawers.

You're talking about the sort a tool wrench organizer box? It was fine, I don't use the size indicator and provided label, so it's a little a hard to see the size you need right away. But works alright. That's the Autel MaxiDiag MD802. Got it to clear the airbag light on my Porsche, as well as to troubleshoot the catalytic converter. Very powerful tool for the money. It can graph two parameters in the same plot, record data for playback, and access many different systems, including SRS, ABS, etc.

@ Handcock1701,thanks for the reply. I read it was hard to read the labels on the sort of tool, but think i will like it. I read good thing about the scanner/diag tool. Thought it maybe been the probe that Autel have out Autel PS100. Alternative to the power probe 3.

No problem. The printed and provided label didn't match the sizes of my set. But other people use their custom hand written label or a labeler too.

I have the 9 drawer 52" husky cabinet. I like it for the most part. Logistically it was just easier for me to borrow a friends pickup and bring it home than dealing with having it shipped. I do agree that the 11 drawer is probably a bit better. One thing I would recommend to anyone buying one of these boxes is to thoroughly check for dents, dings, broken drawers etc before you bring it home. My first one was severely dented and I had to bring it back. Luckily they gave me $50 off for my troubles. The draws open and close smooth for the most part. The only thing is the box is not sturdy at all. It has a tendency to tip over. It almost completely fell over with only a few draws open and they aren't even fully loaded with tools. For the price is decent, but I think eventually I will pony up $1000-$1500 for a used snap/mac/matco box. yea you really got what you pay for when it comes to tool boxes especially used vs a new cheap box.

@mdd are you going to display your drawer layout.been debating a few months over the 9 or 11. Like the 9 for the price but keep trying to picture how i would have it organized and setup.

I've had he 11 drawer and absolutely love it. I think it's deeper than the 9 drawer (actual drawer 18 in). Also like the asymmetrical layout of drawer widths. I could show you my current drawers.

The first picture was when I was moving stuff from my old box to this one(kind of messy). My application may be different from many folks on here as I really only work on Audis/VWs. I use my tools more than the average home mechanic since I do rather big jobs. It works for me so far but like I said it has a tendency to tip. I found that I hardly ever use my 1/2" stuff so I moved it to a separate draw. I'm going to be switching up my impact to a 3/8" and get a decent set of 3/8 impacts shallows and impact swivels which will be in that back space you see in the top draw. This way I can have all my commonly used stuff in the top draw. That was the idea when I bought this box since its really annoying jumping draw to draw(wanted 1 large top draw. HF boxes don't offer this). I also have a draw dedicated to SAE sockets which is all basically HF stuff since its never used. (never work on older american cars). I think the 11 draw setup is better from the pictures. I didn't really do much research I just figured it was 1 less draw. I would probably get the 11 draw if I had to do it again. But I think its a $100 more.

I look at these when I go in there. But they seem flimsy

You haven't seen the 11 drawer unit then. The 9 and 10 drawer ones are shallower and thinner gauge metal. Still better than the typical Craftsman DIY roller though.
I keep saying it - this 11 drawer model is ideal for the home and casual tool user. If you don't make a living with your tools - or if you do, and you're just getting started - this thing is perfect. A buddy of mine paid hundreds more for a used 30 inch Blue Hawk roller that has about a third the usable space of my cabinet. He outgrew it the day he bought it, but he does serious customizing work so he needed the heavier gauge metal and stronger slides. FWIW, he was the guy who went with me to Harbor Fright. He couldn't stop laughing at those cabinets and picking them apart, but he had nothing but good things to say about mine.

I agree with everything you posted there, right down to what you said about getting a used truck vendor box at the end. (My 1st choice is a Matco 4s).
One of the reasons that I didn't post up pics and a review when I got the cabinet home was that I found two defects and I wanted to see how HD handled that before doing a review. I also didn't want to post anything up until it was resolved because that wouldn't be fair to HD.

When I got the cabinet home, I pulled the big bottom drawer out and the drawer face broke away from the drawer side on the right. Either the spot welds weren't properly done, or they weren't done at all and the paint was the only thing holding the drawer face on. The small bottom drawer soon followed suit. So, two broken drawers, fresh out of the box.

I called customer service, got a ticket started. Everyone I dealt with was tremendously easy to deal with. I emailed pics to one lady, and she ordered two new drawers for me. There was where the real issues started, because the manufacturer sent only one drawer. It was dented. So she ordered another set for me. They came in wrapped in a box cut down to size to fit the drawer, no packing. So, more dents. She ordered two more drawers, one was bad, one was good. She ordered one more drawer. I finally got a set of properly packed drawers, in perfect shape. The cabinet is complete and happily holding almost all my tools.

Now I have a stack of drawers sitting here, two each of the large bottom and small bottom drawers. She told me to keep them and do whatever I wanted with them. I'd make a cabinet to hold them but I'm lost trying to figure out how to mount drawers. Plus, I'd have to figure out what slide channels to order and I wouldn't know where to start with that.

Any ideas?

I wish I had one of those. The perfect dimensions, excellent drawer layout, and center wheels are a nice bonus.

You'll never see that box in stock at any HD, I'm sorry to say. Too big and too much money for the bargain hunters that go there for the 9 drawer tinfoil Husky boxes. Your only hope is that someone orders one and refuses it when it comes to the store for pickup. Stuff like that goes for a sweet discount.

May I recommend just ordering two of the boxes I got? You'd be at over 100 inches in width with the depth you want, and the two big top drawers would be more stable than that giant drawer you see on the 66" cabinet. You'd also be into them for $100 less.

Bunping this thread up from the abyss... I'd like to hear from the guys here who bought the 52/11 Husky based on our discussion. How have you been getting along with your tool bench these past 4 years?

Mine is still going strong, though it is covered in junk during my home remodel, just like the rest of the garage. The wood top still looks good, and I have a 27 inch iMac sitting on top for DIY vids and posting/reading threads while I do project stuff.
