Couple of items i picked up this week

m-70m 'midget' 9/32 ratchet with a g code, nice companion to my '40 and '41 f70 ferrets :) shame i don't have any sockets to use with it yet, on the look out for some now, and the tin that the midget sets came in (missed one on ebay recently annoyingly)

Second is another 'G' code, this time a new old stock f220 11/16 socket, interestingly its painted white inside the socket, anyone know if that would have been original or done later on by someone for some reason?

*sorry for the poor pictures of the socket, my camera refused to focus on it properly, will re-take them tomorrow if i remember*

Have picked up a few bits of snap on from this era lately, most likely stuff left over from ww2 as the UK didn't get Snap-on tools officially until 1965 (anything made between '45 and '65 is very seldom seen over here)

Will post up some pics of my f70n ferret ratchets and made in Canada 3/8 drive sockets in a bit if anyone is interested (Canadian made Snap-on is semi common over here it seems).

Pound to a penny it was painted white inside along with all the other sockets in the PO's box to deter tool thieves, or aid identification once it went astray.

Are you sure the "white" is paint and not cad plating?

Yeah it's definitely white paint, isn't very clear in that picture, but has runs and some has chipped off, the socket itself is Cad plated, the paint is just a very thin coating on the inside, thin enough to see where the cad plating hasn't covered the bare steel inside the broaching.

Its unused British army surplus so may have been done by them to stop rusting in storage, but that's a wild guess on my part.

That is quite possible, I have noticed that often ex MOD stuff has paint marks on it, presumably by the soldiers/regiment who 'owned' it. sometimes they are engraved/ stamped as well (often find surplus stuff for sale on ebay or at swapmeets etc)

 Wow, pretty quiet, is everybody at a loss for words or what? Some great pieces we don't see every day Snapmom! By the way Snapmom you outbid me on two of your oddities, that 3/8 copper rat(but I'm happy you completed the set) and the crazy bent neck 1/2" N ratchet. Where is that one? I just saw them both on collecting Snapon the other day.

Here's a recent plier find.

#65

5-1/2" long with built in wire cutter

1969 it looks like.

I have a early 1936 1 7/8" socket 3/4" drive, a 1944 E stamp 1/2" drive ratchet adapter (cadmium plated) and a 1947 1/2" drive 6" extension.

Also many tools I purchased new between 1953 and 1963 including a Blue Point Supreme open end set from 5/16' to 1 5/8"

If someone will tell me how I will post pictures.

My 1/2" drive set. Date codes range from late '30's to early '40's.
