In the first photo are my tie rod fork and battery terminal puller. Both were purchased new in 1963.

The second photo is my ridge reamer, steering wheel puller, starter current tester and generator output tester. These were purchased in the same 1963 time frame.

I got this vintage box back in April. I believe it to be late 30s early 40s but I'm not positive. It's in pretty good condition and I think it has a nice patina to it.

Also,
Does blue point count?

Aquired some of these on my own. Most of them I received from my grandpa. He got them when he bought out a local shop in the mid 80's.

Includes a brake tool, rocker arm adjustment wrench, indexing fan wrench, 3/8 slide bar w/ 9/16 socket, generator tester, flat head bit socket, and an adaptor. I haven't done any research on what year they might be. They all very. I know a few pieces are quite old.

He also gave me this box full of assorted Blue Point pullers. Not sure on the year on any of them.

Not super vintage. But this 3/4" breaker bar, which I also included in my toolbox post along with a few others, is an older one. This was one I purchased myself. Really works great.

I wasn't exactly sure when. I knew it was fairly old. There's a few pieces in there that aren't Blue Point. But, the majority is. I haven't used any of them yet. But, I have them cleaned up and ready to go

Here's something I havnt seen before...
Got myself an F70m (center) and it was really quirky. Sometimes it worked sometimes not. Tried complete disassembly, cleaning and different lubes. It was still mis behaving.
I figured out the problem was the pawl (the one on the left).
I had only ever seen that style pawl in f71c (top) and f71d ratchets and they always had two teeth on each side to better lock into 30 tooth gears.
This one had 1 tooth on each side for the 20 tooth gear the ratchet came with.
I swapped it out with the regular style pawl (right) and now it works fine.

Here is another unusual item. My 24" Snap on screwdriver purchased in 1962.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this dumb question. I don't know a lot about vintage Snap-on tools but I came across this and was wondering what a fair price would be, all of you are far more knowledgeable than I am. This is about 6" long and is a 3/8" ratchet.

BMack37: another good reference is E bay. However, be sure to go to the Advanced Search and filter on "Sold" items. People sometimes advertise stuff for ridiculous prices, but by checking the Sold items, you can see what stuff is actually selling for.

That's a great idea, I looked on eBay and the prices were all over the place. I know I've searched sold items before but it never dawned on me in this case, DOH! Thanks for the reminder!

Are these early flank drive? They are stamped with the flank drive patent number and no date code. I got them in 1973 when the purchasing manager at New Britain cleaned out his closet full of samples submitted by other companies. They are 3/4" drive 1 7/8 and 9/16.

It would be interesting if old price lists were available as well as catalogs. Two items that were interesting for me were my 1 1/2 - 1 5/8 blue point supreme open end that I bought from a repossessed set in 1962 for $20.00 and now sells for $262.00 and my GCP10 grease cap pliers that I bought for $3.75 in 1962 and now sell for $73.25. Of course I did some browbeating on the dealer to get the GCP10s at cost. I have other tools that I bought as far back as 1954 and don't remember what I paid for them. There is where the old price lists would be interesting.

Who knows?
There are still mechanics in my area that use ratchets that old smokey. Their dads and granddads passed their tools down to them. I'm not talking about diy guys either. I was on the Snap On truck at one of his stops when one of the mechanics who worked there dropped it off for a rebuild. Snap On guy told he'd have it back within the week!

I was fondling a Dual-80 at the time. Quite the contrast!

Getting close to the end of my Snap on items. Here are two leverage bars, a long 3/8" punch, a long cold chisel and a 15" blue point chain wrench. All from 1960 / 1963

Here's an ad for a vintage Snap-On tool box that is up for sale locally:

https://rochester.craigslist.org/tls/5303752225.html

Is the asking price a little on the high side for an empty tool cabinet? For posterity I am adding the photos that appears in the ad.

Ford rear main bearing wrench S-9065. This wrench struck my fancy because it has 1/2" drive on one end. The old catalogs at collecting Snap On show this end was for special bearing sockets. The other end is a 3/4" 12 point socket.

This is a rather large specialty wrench. Recently I missed out on the Williams version of this wrench from the same period.

1934 date stamp
