Changed the oil in the truck along with the shocks, & sending unit for the transmission temp gauge. The gauge is still not reading correctly, so I troubleshot my electrical components/connections. I do believe I have a bad gauge.

Painted the patch on the wall I made last week, sprayed the weeds again in the driveway, then sprayed pesticide around the perimeter of the house. Played with the puppies while I drank a beer.

Finished my utility trailer project on Saturday and got my other one sold.

More pictures on my shop projects thread showing the completion.

Got the **** with my rotovator that decided not to run without the choke, was running fine to start with and five minutes in it just stopped so I'm guessing crud in the carb. I ran half a can of carb cleaner through it, cleaned out the bowl and still nothing. I've dropped the thing off at my local mower repair guy as I just don't want to take the carb apart. Its a newish Honda.

Put some tools away to calm myself down.

Finished with my mirrors and installed them! These are off of an '09+ that I put on my '08. Added the turn signal in place of the orange reflector, picked up smooth mirror caps off of ebay and painted them to match.

Wanting just a bit more distance comfort on the new GSw I decided to try out the Seat Concepts Low Seat. The stock seat was not particularly tall, but SC tends to make them higher, so I went with the low seat. $169 is not a bad price, and if it doesn't work, I am confident I could trade it for a stocker and most of my cash.

So, here is the original seat:

Remove all the staples and the cover and foam. They are not glued on.

The corners on front had removable plastic parts, I assume to keep the edges from being too sharp.

Here you see the stock and SC foam differences.

Installed with lots of 3/8" staples and a manual gun, and it looks pretty good, almost stock. The gap is the same as before.

I sat on it and it feels OK, not really much shorter, and maybe a slight forward tilt compared to the very good stock seat!

Tomorrow will tell.

Cleaned out the Element enough (removed 3 seats) so I could fit my motorcycle inside for a 5 day trip at the end of the week.

Cut up a bunch of pallets for firewood for the campfire at a Beaver scout sleepover next weekend. They are untreated before anyone says anything. I even split some down as kindling to get it started.

Washed and detailed my truck. It has had to sit outside the past two months while I was fabbing my new utility trailer and it was absolutely filthy. Showed her some love and decided to drive her to work today. Isn't it funny how they even take on a different "feel" when they are all shined up and clean?:3gears:

Tonight I need to help my son buff his hood out on his 02 Duramax. The previous owner let some bugs stay on the front longer than he should have and they etched themselves into the clear. I will hit the front of the hood with some 2000 grit wet/dry paper and then polish it out so he can do a good polish/wax job on his baby.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yesterday I moved my toolboxes to the side of the garage so I can walk in front of my fullsize truck when its in the garage. Also hung up my floor speakers on the wall in space I wasn't using.

Today's plan: add a plug on the ceiling for my shop lights at the front of the garage, tie it into the rest of the shop lights I'm running, also add a constant hot plug for my radio that also needs to be installed on a wall since before it was sitting on one of my floor speakers.

Started to tear down my pressure washer that is leaking oil. Turns out I need a new head gasket and breather gasket. Found a Briggs gasket kit on Amazon for $15 prime. Love Prime!

Buddy of mine just did the Gy6 swap. Has me serious considering a Ruckus.

I spent my afternoon wrangling a power steering box out of one of the Broncos.

Getting new washer and dryer today, had to pull out the old and clean out the dryer vent. I had one of those flat / drip pans under the old washer as it would throw some water etc. every now and then, and the repair parts were more expensive than the pan... I plumbed the drain into the home drain.. so I pulled that last night and this morning made a plug for the hole in the floor in the laundry room. Nothing like some early morning lathe work..

Changed the oil in the Taurus last night and put in new ignition wires. Looks like that fixed the misfire issue I was having.

Helped my son cut/buff the hood on his truck as it had either tree sap or something spilled on it from the previous owner. Lightly sanded it down with some 2000 grit and then polished it out. Turned out great and now my son can get a coat of hand glaze on it followed by a nice coat of NuFinish for a summer long shine.

I need to do the same thing to my truck but it may be a few weeks yet as I have some customer jobs coming in that I have committed to.

NuFinish. Damn, that stuff came out when I was a kid in the '70's and it's still around. Dad bought some back in the day because it was new and high tech.

I hate that stuff. Once it's on, you can't get it off. Once it starts to "wear out" it tends to leave a streaky, uneven coating and secondary applications don't fix it. I wouldn't put that on my worst enemy's car...

I know it has been out for a long time. Haven't really used it much as I generally don't wax my vehicles, I usually just use 3M Hand Glaze once in a while but my truck has been having to sit outside for the past while and I want to protect it from the UV and elements.

This is the first time I have heard this. Again, I haven't used it much and for the most part I have not heard anything negative about it until now.

For the past 25+ years all I have ever done is apply hand glaze as needed and kept my vehicles clean and in the garage. My show cars I NEVER waxed, only hand glazed, then waterless cleaner before a show and a duster during the show.

Maybe I should do a little more research before putting this on my truck. I don't want to have issues with paint down the road as I see myself keeping this a long, long time.

Rebuilt a carb and changed the fluids on my recent Auction find. $1000 for a 2005 YZ250F. Carb rebuild and it runs like new.

Tree sap is a real pita, what did you use to remove it before buff? i use acetone to remove it and finish with a glaze.

Bug & tar remover plus a little elbow grease. A couple of places looked like maybe a bird dropping that at eaten into the clear for that I lightly sanded with some 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper then proceeded with polishing/buffing.

I hauled the second card file home and slid it in place. Then I measured and the third one fits perfectly in the dead space under the staircase. Took a picture on my cell but no idea how to send. Perhaps tomorrow:)

Finished getting the edges of the ceiling screwed in and caulked all the seams. Will be letting it cure and probably get to sanding the seams on Saturday. Then it's paint time!
