I get Craftsman tools (mainly screwdrivers) at thrift stores all the time for 25 cents up to maybe a dollar. They are usually beat to death, so I take them to Sears and trade for new ones.

I always check to make sure everything I replace is still made in the USA, of course!

Well, Last week I got a few old Craftsman tools at a thrift store, and this haul included a set of 8-inch linesman pliers. Horrible condition! But for only 2 bucks, it's a deal.

Traded them for a new pair. They are $23 now!

The new ones have an additional griping jaws behind the rivet, which is good.

But the rivet itself is MUCH smaller. The old one was nearly as big as a quarter. The new one is slightly smaller than a dime. Does it matter?

...unless you get part of your hand in there while cranking down on them. It's something you don't forget.

Hope it's just my hand! This is why I don't do electrical work in the **** anymore. Also I work for a school and a church, so I got sick of the complaints. :)
