I have Howe type rafters above my garage, I was hoping to re-do the trusses to make some flat area that I could place some plywood on and use for some extra storage.

Currently, I have some storage boxes sitting on the diagonal web members, but it's obviously not the most efficient use of space. I am thinking of re-doing about 3 trusses that would give me enough space.

Don't ever "re-do" trusses without talking to an engineer.

Adding supplemental bearing under the trusses or sistering on LVL's or other is likely needed.

when my house was built I asked the foreman if I could put some plywood in the atic and he was cool with it. But I don't put a lot of weight up there either. mostly its bins with Christmas and other holiday stuff the bins are rotated as each event happens

Trusses are fast, cheap and strong, but tough for storage. Not sure if you can do what you want. Talk to an engineer. No sure if it will be worth the work for the small amount of storage you will gain .

I had a house that the garage had trusses like that.
I cut strips of plywood that I could slip up there and nail in place.
Then I put the stuff up between the rafters and use it as an organization system.
Done mix stuff that goes in that section
