A satin or semigloss. I dont want anything that will peal or flake in a couple of years. I just need something to seal concrete dust from floor and to protect it from oil leaks.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the 6600 from Legacy. I am doing my 1200sq ft garage with it. I had to do it in sections so i could store my stuff. I used a microfiber 3/8 nap roller. The first coat went on very light most likely because it absorbed into the concrete, not like a stain does, but there was some absorbtion. It darkened it up very nice. The second coat i made sure i used a good amount and rolled over the first coat in a different direction. Hardly shows any roller marks. I did see some areas where more liquid stayed on the concrete and where some areas where i backrolled where it picked up some material that started to already set. Again, I am very pleased with the way it turned out!

I used a floor machine with a black scouring pad and some degreaser. I scraped the floor with a floor scrapper and pressure washed all the residue out the garage door.

While i cannot speak to the durability or the longevity of the product, it does seem to hold really well to the floor.

My concrete guy is suggesting a sealer called Siloxane.
Anyone heard of it?
Any good?

That is an ingredient in many sealers, including products we sell and there are a lot of brand names. One common one is Siloxa-Tek (preferably 8505) or the TrueLock HD40. Both should be used with a densifier first, such as TL37

The HD6600-mma sealer shown in Roosty's pic is siloxane rich. Siloxane affords the sealer much more resistance to salt-water, deicers, etc...

It is available in gloss, satin and matte. Colors too!

****,

We did an article on the Legacy HD6525 MMA sealer a while ago which you can find here. It should help answer some of your questions. It's pretty much the same stuff as the 6600 I believe with the exception that the 6600 also has great protection against salt water, translate - road salts, which would make it a good choice for your neck of the woods.
