I've amassed a small collection of vises since joining GJ.(none of which I actually need) :wtf: As a matter of fact, I joined GJ as a result of looking for info on a Chas. Parker I purchased, more or less as a favor for someone.

Today I picked up this one...Ever since reading Bulls thread about his vise and the history behind them, I've wanted one of my own.

http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111502

Last year I let one get away, but this time I was able to snag one. I was even prepared to meet the 100$ asking price. As it worked out, I got it for 80$ and spent almost an hour shooting the **** with a real nice guy about tools, cars and other stuff.

It's in really decent original shape except for some rust and the swivel base nuts that have been replaced. It even has the remains of a YORK label on the front of it. Enough of my babbling....here's some pics.

You did good. It looks like an easy restoration for you to enjoy for many years.
If you wouldn't mind, please show the C Parker you have, as well as your other vises.

Happy trails.

Very nice. :) Lovely vices are the Yorks. That's a fairly early one too.

Thanks. It's officially become my favorite vise. :) I'm not sure if I'm going to restore it...kind of like it as it is :dunno:

Here's the Parker and an Athol I have. I'll have to get a picture of all of them together.

You have good taste. :D

Nowt wrong with that. You can easily enough remove that surface rust with a kerosene and nylon scourer scrubbing session if you feel the urge, (which is subtle enough that it shouldn't damage the paint either), but the slide looks clean enough, so it should function perfectly fine as is.
