Hi Everyone,

I haven't updated this thread in a little while, but I've still been recording my garage-dwelling antics and posting then to YouTube on a regular basis. Below are the most recent videos, I've got some really cool upgrades to the garage coming soon, so watch out for those too!

1987 Grand National Videos
Street & Strip Upgrades Part 3
Street & Strip Upgrades Part 4

1991 Eagle Talon AWD Videos
Twin Disc Clutch Install - Part 2

Here's the newest video, uploaded earlier today

Small world...stumbled upon this thread and clicked on the last link for the dodge colt video. Nate's a good friend of mine; we've swapped mitsubishi parts and knowledge many a times! Nice garage and cars!

Tom, I've seen the latest videos on YouTube for the Grand National which are pretty good. :rocker:
How about a link to them for the other GJ folks?

fastbuick: Thank you for the kind words! Here's a link to the latest Grand National video:

Grand National Street & Strip Upgrades Part 6: Results!

jdeck: Thank you!

Jonnynel: Thank you and it's definitely a small world!

Also, I realized that I haven't updated this thread in quite some time! After years of suffering with my cheap-o compressor, I finally decided to upgrade to something that will handle anything I throw at it now and in the future without breaking a sweat.

I thought some of you would find this helpful if you're looking for a new compressor and/or an air piping setup that easy to install yourself. This is another one of those situations where the information that I found in the archives of this forum was priceless and helped me immensely.

Here's the video that includes much more detail and a few giggles too :eyecrazy:

My old, wore out one:

My new one! The BendPak Tri-Max LS7580V-601 7.5 horsepower 3 cylinder extreme-duty air compressor. It is a beautiful machine.

RapidAir's Maxline air piping system. I really like how this setup turned out.

Hose reels, RapidAir's regulator/filter, jumper hoses and other fittings to complete the setup.

I learned about this great tip here on the forums and it worked great. I used hockey pucks in combination with BendPak's anti-vibration pads.

Hanging the reels on the mounting boards.

After hanging the reels, I connected the jumper hose from the compressor to the wall mounted regulator/filter combo and ran my first section of Maxline off of it.

All done!

After the 30 minute break-in time, I got right to work!

While I've only taken on a few small projects, I am completely impressed with the BendPak Tri-Max. It's quieter than my old, tiny compressor and fills up the tank in a hurry! I can't wait to tackle much bigger jobs for years to come!

Thanks for reading and watching,

-Tom

Tom,

Great garage!

I been looking for garage ideas that meet my needs. I could not find any. I came across your Youtube blog about the Bendpak two lift install which is the ame brand I am going with just the 15k capacity. What you did with your garage is exactly what I was looking for and knew it would have to be custom. The vaulted ceilings for the two post lift answered my questions for the ceiling in that bay to include the garage door. With my builder we drafted plans, but the walls I felt were too tall (16 ft) which raised the roof line too high. Instead of looking line a garage that blended in with my home, it looked more like a warehouse. We are back to the drawing board. The plan is a 30x60 four bay garage with two post lift and attic walk in storage above. I need to get my Kubota tractor in there so a door needs to 10 feet tall to do this. What are the heights of your doors? What is the overall size of your garage? I would be very interested to learn more about your design and how I can modify it for my needs and can do this off line if you like.

Thanks and great job!

Will

Hi All,

Just a little update of what's been happening in the old garage- I've been busy working on my new-to-me 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4! I've been cleaning it up in an attempt to return it to it's original glory. Here's the most recent update where we dive into the dirty engine bay. Thanks for checking it out!

Here's the engine before we started. Yech!

Shop looks fantastic. I would suggest adding an air fitting/hose reel near the bench. You'll use it there all the time.

Thanks man, that car was so much fun! I think a Turbo Miata is an excellent car and is likely one of the best bang for the buck setups available. At the 200-250rwhp level, a healthy, safely tuned stock 1.6/1.8 will run forever and deliver endless entertainment.

Just recently found your YouTube Chanel, then found this, impressive stuff! Keep up the updates on the Miata build...
Thanks man, I appreciate that! I post updates on the V8 Miata build every two weeks and we're heading toward the home stretch now! :eyecrazy:

Haha, that's why I picked up old used stainless tables that were broken in really well. I constantly sand/scuff on them all the time. It adds character to them. Haha!

Awesome build man. Love the shop and the cars.
Thank you sir, I appreciate that!

Love the build.
Thank you David!

Agreed. I had a turbo 1.6 that I parted out last year in order to fund my garage build.. I miss that car more and more everyday. Moreso than my turbo civic, big turbo STi, or anything else I've ever owned.

Hello,

Love the garage and the videos!

After living with your new garage for some time now is there anything you would have built differently in regards to the dormers or your second level?

How has the placement of windows and window type been working out?

What are your thoughts about having dormers on both sides of the garage to get more light?

Sorry for all the questions:bowdown:

you're my hero...hahaa. I've followed your NA sunburst and NB build....both equally amazing, hopefully I can get my turbo kit installed on my 94 Montego M edition this winter. Only downfall is it'll be in an un-insulated garage in the mist of a New England winter, one day i'll build something equally amazing as your set up
