...then there's the "Snap-On" junk sold in Home Despot and Ace Hardware; Communist **** apparently authorized/licensed by Snap-On without the quality or the price tag.

Just the thing for working on a Cadillac Cimarron.

Most are real there are some fakes but just look yo the real version and check to see if there are any differences. Or look at the sellers rating or location

The motto for Ebay should always be buyer beware.

As always you need to be an informed buyer. Know what you're looking at and what the truck price is. beware of words: like, similar, snap on to a ratchet, etc....

There used to be great deals on Snap on found on Ebay now, there are probably decent deals from time to time. :dunno:

As with everything else on Ebay, avoid stock photos and make sure the listing description matches the picture. You can always ask a question if unsure.

My last iPod was bought off ebay and shipped direct from China. It was identical to a real Apple product down to having a commonly ripped (and already registered) s/n. I was pissed when I first found out it wasnt genuine but in the end it did what I needed without issue. My advice would be - buyer beware, the fakes are pretty dam good these days.

all of my snap on tools are from Ebay. I don't work at a shop so never see a truck.

I have no idea how much the driver takes off from the retail price online. When I shop on ebay, I Normally watch alot of auctions to see what they are selling for and also compare them to prices on Snap ons site. I bought some sealed XBM and XB box wrench sets on ebay cheaper than open boxed "new" on there. Just need to watch alot of auctions.

in the end it did what I needed without issue.

I bought a SO ratcheting screwdriver on Ebay and I believe it to be fake. I guess I needed to learn my lesson the hard way. But I gotta say, it works beautifully, and feels great in the hand, and I've felt no need to replace it with the real thing.

What about it makes you think it's a fake? Got a picture?

All of them? Hah that is a lot of auctions to check.

I have purchased items form ebay that have been knock offs or misrepresented. In the end, it has always, somewhat been my fault. If its too good to be true, it probably isn't.

They're probably legit. I believe the pink driver goes all the way back to the early 90's. I have an original set in mint condition...Gave them to a lady friend for going to the auction they were at with me....They're still sitting there unused. I kind of wish I had them back. I've never seen a set of them for sale on ebay.

The most obvious thing was that the external threading for the end-cap was very poorly done, it's barely functional, and all of the shavings from the internal threading job were crammed down in the bit holder space. Just not at all what I have come to expect from SO QC. Additionally, the stamped in lettering was poorly done, and lastly, it was listed as "NIB" and came with no packaging/papers whatsoever.

I don't have another one to compare it to, maybe I'm all wet. It WORKS great.

By the way, if you're looking to buy a new set of pink drivers, don't buy them off of ebay. Find a truck. Around mother's day this year they are going to re-release the pink hard handles from the early 90's and they will be 130 for a set. People that have them already ( I think the East Coast dealers already have them) are selling them on ebay for 200....Don't get gouged...Everyone is about to get them on their trucks.

I'd be very interested to see a picture of this screwdriver. What model number is on it?

Are they the full size screwdriver set or the mini set? I would be curious to see a picture of the set if it is the full size set! What did you pay for them at the auction if you don't mind me asking? Over the years I have found a #3 phillips, #1 phillips and #2 stubby phillips all in full size pink off ebay but never a full set.

Sorry to reply so late, I hardly ever check back to threads after I've posted. Oops.
It is a full size set, really the only ones I've ever seen, and I collect Snap-On stuff.
At the auction, stuff was by the box. I think I paid 95 for that box, and sold all of the used, older style red script stuff in really bad shape for 95. So, technically, the set was free.

So, will you be sad to know that my friend HAD to have those from my haul of stuff, and now she has just thrown them in the storage bin of her truck, and has never once used them? They are still in new condition, and I doubt they will ever see the light of day.

I'm trying to get her to take a brand new pink set of drivers so I can sell the old set. It'll bring far more than the new ones!

Also, I do have a pic on my old phone, but I'm lazy, I don't want to transfer it to put it up here. Sorry.

Well if you do get them I would be interested in making you an offer on them as long as they are in good condition and not faded out.

They are like new in all sense of the word, when I bought them. What she's done to them since then, I can't account for. I just sent her a text asking for the original pic from a few years ago. If she sends it to me, I'll upload it here.

They have dirty splotches on them in this pic, but those were from the dirty screwdrivers in the rest of the box. Some dawn, and most everything came right off.

I just bought the new set yesterday, and the pinks are totally different. The new ones are some neon pink, the old ones are pink...pink....If that makes sense...

Hey, if it's rare, I've had it or still have it! That's what I'm all about!

Jeff, those would suit you nicely. You can work on your Barbie dream house, now.

Sounds like all three genuine Snappies I have.

She just sent me the pic...

IMG_4364.jpg

Here is a photo of what I have, I put the orange handle in for comparison to the pink. I know it is hard to come by the pink and violet in the full size sets other than the new pink that are available.

Sorry for the large photo I have a new Google Chromebook and navigating this thing is way different than a normal PC.

Good news is that a photo did not show up at all.

Well I think I finally got it figured out how to get the picture sized right!

Ah. I see it now. I bought her the new pink set yesterday in hopes of prying the old stuff out of her hands. She said she liked "the small screwdrivers" (stubbies) because they fit better in her hands.
She doesn't really care at all about the other drivers.
