Found this ratchet today. Very cool and the pics speak for themselves......check out the mechanism!

I guess it could be. Can't find a patent no. or anything so really difficult to research. Never seen that huge "nose" that's not removable (except via disassembly) on any ratchet before.

Maybe you can put different size drive "noses" in it? Like replace the 1/2" with a 3/4"?

They still are in town here - down by the river.
I use to work across the alley from Whitney. I even interview for an Engineering position.

That's because the selector is on the cover. With the cover and selector installed it holds one of the pawls down.

Correct. In the pic with the back cover on, you'll notice the selector looks like the old Walden ratchets. Turning it one way or the other retracts one of the pawls.

That's got to be well built to punch through angle iron, crazy looking contraption.
