[Tool Pants]

At the flea market this socket stood out in the pile because it did not look familiar. ACESA made in Spain. Never heard of it. Looked like a quality socket and I had 50 cents burning a hole in my pocket.

Searched the net and.... Owned by Snap-On since 1995.

Only ACESA tool the guy had. How it got to San Jose, California would be an interesting story. The only North America distributor is in Canada.

I've seen a few Acesa wrenches up here....didn't look too apetizing for me. But, those Whitworth sockets look pretty nice in appearance; kinda resembles old Hazet sockets.

There is a junk store near me called Cargo Largo. They have several New Acesa screwdrivers. They range from $3.99 to $6.99 each. They look like a good screwdriver. But I can't pull the trigger at that price.

Whitworth. I was wondering why the Acesa socket was so big for a 3/8". The W on the socket did not register. I have been into metrics for decades, so I am not good with inch sized stuff.

Put it next to my 3/8" Craftsman. Big difference.

Hah! I'm the same with you; I've worked almost exclusively on metric, so I used scratch my head when I would see "AF" (SAE) and "W" (Whitworth) markings on tools and thinking, "how could these two 3/8" be the same size?".

Just been to my local car boot sale and picked up, amongst other bits, a British military surplus Acesa 3/8 drive 10mm 12pt socket. Looks to be unused and very nice quality. The military markings include the date "94".

Palmera, Irimo, and Acesa. They were the best brands of tools in Spain. Today they are part of the SNA Europe group.

I had some Acesa wrenches for my Brit motorcycles but sold them when I completed my Hazet and Snap-on sets. The fit and finish was second to none although I'm not sure if the steel was as hard as the latter mentioned brands. At the time I had these, Acesa had stopped listing them on their web site (around 2009). Acesa under went some big changes in their tool offerings after that date. I had been unaware of their Snap-on ownership at that time.
