Joe. Careful with those Athol's. Your nuts could drop out the bottom and hit the floor.

Just got this for $30 from one of my vise-minion. I'm so happy.
AE: those pictures surprised me of my old Wilton C2 because i could of swore it would have been a green tint original color. it couldn't have found a nicer guy's bench to sit on. thanks again and hold on to that one or let me know if you need something bigger and i'll let you trade up. cheers and thanks again.
Get: if you said what i think you said then EEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!
Stripper: very nice Athol and how wide are the jaws?? does it weigh maybe 5 pounds or ??

That notch...I think Outlaw told me it was meant to use a wood block under it to extend it out away from a wood bench (?). I have a 106.5 Parker that has that same angle. I built a rigid steel stand and notched the vise deck to accommodate it. It's not really a needed item on the stand I made though.

Can you tell me anything about this vise?
the Columbian vise is weird, says Made in USA, but never saw anything just like it.
paid $5.00 for the Craftsman book and the vise.
It's open lead screw, but for $4.00 I'm not too worried.

ok thanks, l did search e bay and google with that number, but didn't see it.A google search came up with this identical americana vise on eBay

Name says Wilton. But chrome says Chinese.

Bagged: unless you need it for parts i'd probably pass even at $10 because it's missing one pipe jaw and probably the other one is a replacement. like Craptain said the chrome handle is looking like a Chinese Wilton. we say this because we know you don't need a vise because that vise could be fixed and used, but not a great flipper.
Somewhat important, especially if a long drive is involved. But it wouldn't be a deal breaker.Question for you guys. When shopping for a vise how important is it to you to see an underneath shot of the vise similar this photo? It isn't something I usually include in my listings but I'm willing to change that if people like seeing it. Thanks for any feedback.

Yeah my no 33 and my no 2 have that angle gusset piece. I guess I can always mount them on a notched 2x8 and use them as portable vises. I'm not about to notch my workbench. Ahh. I just realized I have too many vise projects and never enough time. At least the warm weather finally will let me paint a little faster. I also made an aluminum foil baking oven to put on my bbq grill. Such a smoother paint finish.

Looks great, Joe! Did polishing up the slide introduce any slop? I've wanted to do what you did there but think I read on this forum that removing even the smallest amount of material from the slide will introduce slop ... is it true? Did you use a deburring wheel or ? Once again, lookin' good!!

Joe: would you like to tell us about how many hours you spent making that vise look like that? very nice work and you might even get your bride to let you set that one on the kitchen counter like the Emmert was for a while. Keeper or Not? and if it does make it to the kitchen counter how about a few more pictures from all sides.
2 " walnut is what I have used in the past. Looks great on any bench. I wish I had a photo but lost them on my last puter crash. I sell the base with the vise...
I have a No. 2 parker as well and when I get around to doing it I'll for sure post up my walnut base along with it.
Just finished the restoration on my Parker 26X. It was a LOT of work. I know this type of restoration isnt for everyone, it's a little out there, but it is what I saw in my mind when I took possession. I want to replace the handle as well.
The inserts are like new on this big old Parker, and although it only has 6" jaws it weighs north of 185 lbs.
So without further ado...
