Took pump motor and pump mechanism off the pump housing and replaced the ceramic seals, etc. Found a missing quad ring from the factory that I reinstalled. Working like a champ now and getting the water clearer by the moment... Drying up nicely...

Pump is running like a champ.. no leaks and been going basically 24/7 for a week now. Pool algae is gone, almost perfectly clear. Hope to go into normal mode tonight.. (I know its not in the garage per se, but it took some work in the shop to get the pool here)...

We had cleanup day at the lake yesterday, so I loaded up the leaf blowers, line trimmer, chainsaw and rakes and went at it.

After running 4 tanks of gas through Dad's old walk behind leaf blower, I figured I should do a PM. It got an oil change, carb cleaning, new air filter and spark plug. I couldn't stand the surface rust, so I took the handle off and polished the plating. Of course I couldn't stop there, so I took the engine off, cleaned everything and reassembled it. Looks better than when Dad gave it to me 18 years ago. The old beast has to be at least 35 years old and it still runs like new.

Never heard of that. I went to my old standby- 0000 steel wool & a little WD-40 for the rust removal. Wiped down with brake clean and then a light polish with Simichrome. It's not perfect, but it looks great compared to the brown handles it had before. If I was smart, I would have done before and after photos.

Oh yeah, just some tin foil dipped in water. I was actually taught it by gramps. he used Coca cola instead of water. if its really pitted you ball it up. but flat 4"x4" does pretty good for most stuff.

Well, begun yesterday but finished the rear fenders on this Dodge. took me 11h totals. It was my first time doing a complete body/panel replacement. Here's all the steps (did 3 layers of Bondo/sanding/bondo/sanding/morebondo/moresanding) My friend paid me 280$ labors to do em both and paid all the shop supplies. Plus I learned how to weld sheet metal.

Since I ran out of paint yesterday, I picked some up today and added a second coat to the O/H door and shelf brackets.

I also had other stuff going on today so I couldn't really do much, along with the wind being set on "killer" today. I didn't even want to try to carry a sheet of siding from my garage to the house garage. I did however break out the plumb bob and mark the floor. Once the siding is up on the ceiling, I use the plumb bob again to mark the siding and drill the hole for the bracket to drop down through.

Stood there and listened to my returning GD installer tell me he really didn't know what the fix was for GD's with torsion bars that have the cable grind on itself (on the pulley)the last few inches before the door is level with the top of the opening. After returning AGAIN it appears to be fixed.

Thx, considering I have no patience for sanding bondo I think I did kinda good. Its my buddies work truck and he wanted it to look clean when he shows up at customers. Overall it cost him about 500$ total for both sides. Labors, panels & supply

Side note: tie rod ends are about the most debated topic on who makes the best and who makes junk.

Dragged in the steel I bought to make a new sheet and bar stock storage rack. I can't stand it on the floor and trying to prop it against the wall and having it decide to move and trip me up at inopportune moments.

1. Put two coats of stain on SWMBO's planters so we can plant morning glories.
2. Straightened up a bit.
3. Filled nail holes in 98 year old trim so I can reinstall it.
4. Sanded said trim.

Replaced 4 seized bearing sets on the closer wheels for a JD 752 planter today along with other maintenance and greasing. 110 acres down, many more to go.

Finally took some time off work, one of the first breaks in two years! Lot’s of yard work but took some time to play in the garage.

Picked up some traxxas RC trucks last year at a yard sale. The guy was honest and said they needed to be rebuilt but all worked. We used them a few times but they had issues. Rebuilt the motors and a few suspension repairs total invested including the rebuild is $150 for two of the 3.3 motor units.. They are a blast

Then took the time to figure out how to put a car that is 5” off the ground onto my bendpack lift. Took some pre lifting with the low profile floor jack to be able to swing the arms under but she looks great perched on the lift. Changed the oil and detailed under the car then went for the first ride in over 18 months! Ran great!

Yesterday - parts showed for the push mower. New deflector - original destroyed when I ran over a hose. Replaced and pm'ed - time to mow. Zero turn repaired last week, I'm set for the mowing season.

Took some pre lifting with the low profile floor jack to be able to swing the arms under but she looks great perched on the lift. Changed the oil and detailed under the car then went for the first ride in over 18 months! Ran great!

Easier way to get the lift arms under a low car is to run the tires up on short pieces of 2x4's or better yet some 2x6's, if you need to go higher then that you can screw 2 pieces together on top of each other kinda staggered some ..it makes sorta a ramp, i deal with this all the time

Tie rod end (old one was pretty bad when shaking wheel left and right), and GM Performance Parts rear sway bar upgrade.


I'm getting a weird sticky grease noise with every time the tire makes a rotation, not sure what's up with that after the new tie rod end.

(edit: think the brake pads are wearing down because the noise also has a variation when the brake pedal is applied)

in case you didnt know, IFWADA (indiana 4 wheel drive assosiation) has been involved with camp riley for many years. they host a "jeep day" for the kids once a year, giving rides to the kids.

i was down there several years ago, with some members of the 4x4 club i belonged to (at the time).

the kids had a blast !

i had a younger cousin with (severe) downs syndrome, i never knew how to emotionally handle being around her, being at the camp stirred up some memories from a dark place in my mind.

and, my s-10 blazer is too cramped for most of them to get into, so i havent been back down.

the club i am part of now decided to overhaul 25+ wagons that were in serious need of repair.

we decided to make a special edition wagon to donate to them this year.

just my contribution to make their life at camp a little easier

i'm still scrounging parts for the build....

Yesterday evening, a relative/friend called me and asked if I wanted any of the metal his company was going to scrap.
I said HELL YES, and he said he'd stop by on the way home with some stuff in his car.

He drives a little older model BMW hatchback, so I am thinking, Ok, he has some little stuff that he could stick in a box in his trunk.

He backs in, and he has a 5' piece of I-beam sticking out the back of his car:

And he had all of this metal, which we piled on my welding table:

There is a bunch of stainless sheet scraps:

Got some delrin round stock in 2 different diameters, a bunch of 1" plate scraps (mostly C22):

One has already found a place on my press:

One of the aluminum pieces is a block with a .308 round buried in it (he didn't know why):

Also included was a crusty 3-jaw chuck that had been used on a rotary welding setup, and is splattered with stuck on metal *************;

Apparently they also have a bunch of stuff they plan to sell off, so he is going to have me come down and look through everything before they advertise it. I already told him I'd take a couple of the welding screens they are selling for $10 each.

This morning I decided to make some darts (for a dartboard), since the nice ones at the store are kinda expensive for what they are.
I mean, the shafts and flights are cheap, even sold in bulk, so why do they want $39 for three steel knurled barrel darts with a little plastic case?

So, I started by making some steel, knurled barrel darts, just like the ones at the store in town:

I stuck some cheap shafts and flights that I had on them to try them out:

I like them so much, I decided to make some fancy brass ones, too:

They came out so nice, I decided they needed a nice stand to put them in, so I made one:

Here they are with the shafts and flights from some other darts I had:

I think I'll order some black carbon fiber shafts and get some plain solid color flights for them.

$39.00 is NOT expensive for a set of darts. Take it from someone who has been playing in leagues for about 30 years. The last time I got new darts they were over twice that much and it was probably more than 8'years ago. I'm not saying the prices are reasonable for what you're actually getting, just that that's a cheap price for a set of darts...

BTW, your darts came out really nice...

Actually yesterday but installed a pair of Rigid's new fog lights on my truck.





They come with nice quality Deutsch connectors, they send you a complete harness actually but I've already got relay power at the bumper for the headlamps and the previous fog lights so I hooked them up to that.
