Ok I got a a crazy amount of stuff today for $170.

Parker 974 to flip
Heinrich 6"to flip
Heinrich 4" for my drill press

Ton of indicators, parallels, transfer punches, bits, taps, small machinists vises, micrometer, bunch of bins, and the toolbox that all the drill bits are in. Lots to sort thru and figure out what's what. Most will be going on eBay.

Nice score on the craftsman. It's been pretty quiet around here too. Will be back downstate full time next month.

All: so Zoomie sees that my daughter's name is Kara and he ships me his Kara's electric vise out of the kindness of his heart. that gentlemen is a true gift and i can't thank Zoomie enough for the offer. i also found out it's practically the same size as my baby bullet so when i handed it to Kara she thought it was cool even though she doesn't know it's hers when she moves and has a workbench or desk to mount it on.

also showing a few pictures of the packaging another vise pro does for those of you that need some knowledge. Zoomie took it apart and wrapped them in 3 pieces of bubble wrap and then stuffed the flat rate box with bubble wrap for it's trip to me.

for those of you that might need some bubble wrap I've picked up bags of the stuff at lamps and appliance stores that were headed for the dumpsters. just ask or search next to the dumpster on your way home. or you can buy the stuff, but i'm not sure where.

Maclin was selling finger savers on Ebay for $5 a pair shipped but i think his wife isn't doing well and he's moving so i couldn't find his ad. maybe Oldie knows.

in this thread someplace we were talking about O rings from a trucks brakes or something like that and i'll have to find those posts because they came in all sorts of colors.

What we were thinking might work were the Air Brake "Glad Hand" gaskets...

I haven't talked with "Maclin" in a while...his store is "Kelly's Treats and Treasures"...

His wife has been ill for a long time...Prayers are warranted...

Maclin: even though we've never met I've heard you are a great guy so I hope you and your wife pull through this and of course me and my familie's prayers are with you. god bless

Oldie: BTW any new visits to the emergency room or you doing ok? thanks for posting the information on the truck gaskets that if i remember correctly come in blue, red and several other colors.

Kevin: thanks for the McMaster finger savers link because i need something once i start using my big vises more. I've had a couple blood blister pinches and i swear i get the blood blister showing almost before i feel the pain.

Never had a blood blister because of a vise handle, you must use these vises a bunch.

If he's owt like me, it's never general use which catches you out. It always tends to be some silly way in which the handle gets you. :D Saying that though, I can only recall being caught out by a handle a handful of times in the last twenty years or so, so a rare event.

Drives---Thanks for the good vibes...

My three stents, which were put in during the Abdominal Aortal Aneurysm surgery, are doing what they're supposed to do...

I quit smoking after 54 years...

Still want one about every 17.3 milliseconds...

My breathing is about 75% better...

The shingles have gone from my eye...

And, now to loose about 35 pounds...

So, compared to last year, I'm much better...

Thanks again for your kind thoughts...:beer:

Best wishes for your health from this end too Oldie. :) Don't envy you the stopping smoking bit though. I stopped smoking cigs around 2-1/2 years ago, due to a chest infection. After three weeks of not smoking, I was bored silly every time I sat down for five minutes, and realised I *really* enjoyed smoking, so made myself a small pipe and started smoking that instead. :D Much better on the chest than the cigs were, though I doubt it's doing much better for my health in general.

trijeff, Now that made me laugh!:lol_hitti
I'll see what I can do!
It would cost about $10,000 in freight, but it would probably pay for all 4 years!

Drives, thank you for the kudos, but it was my pleasure!

Take Care All!!

I think the pickings are better for you downstate. With you there full time you can "leap" on the really good CL postings like I try to do.

DIF,

A while back you requested some pics of a Craftsman 5197 tension block and screw. I'm sorry it took so ,one but I've been busy and I had to hire a Sherpa to lug the vise into the light so I could get the pictures taken:evil:

Great news Oldie! Now go find that third 5198!

The quest continues...

I really think we should talk Reverend Scott into whittling a "5199" or "5200" out of tool steel...

The 519X series shouldn't stop with the 5" 5198...:dunno:

To be really complete...

We need a 6" 5199...:willy_nil

And...

An 8" 5200!!!!

Using the 5197 to 5198 progression...

The 5199 should weigh about 165 pounds, and the 5200 should weigh about 382 pounds!!!

There is nothing in N. WI for vises. I did manage to get ONE, a Parker produced Prentiss out of Minoqua. Model 254 I believe. And my 1/2 hp commercial craftsman grinder out of Eau Claire. Down state I wouldn't say they're plentiful but definitely not a rare sight. I took the MN craigslist off my locator since you have that locked down

BC: while you have that 5197 out before you hire the Sherpas to haul it back into the dark rust free corner can you get me pictures and measurements of the vise nut (spindle). I appreciate the time you took and costs and energy involved to measure the holder, but it's my vise nut that is missing the screw and piece behind the slot and it's also busted in half.

here' the vise nut (spindle) of my 5196 to show what i'm asking about.

thank you very much.

Oldie: that a boy get Kevin whittling up a few 5200's and i'll send a few flat rate boxes full of steel to help if needed. also good to hear the new parts installed on/in you are still working ok.

How much (and any pics) for those of us that don't use fb??

$500 OBO, and it appears to be in very good condition.
