New to the forum. Joined to seek out advice on lifts and flooring.

Bought the house with the shop already built. House also has a 3 car garage for the family rigs. So the shop is simply for my tools, and toys and nothing else.

This is the day we moved in, I parked one of my rigs in there just to give me a feel for its size

NICE!
oh you so need a 2 post lift.
Im in the process of selling off all my excess tools from years of dad collecting. Everything in the big snap on box is being kept, and Im selling the rest. The plan is to use this to fund my lift. I found a used benwil 9k for about 1500 that im hoping to pick up.

Welcome!

Look forward to seeing what you can do with this great space. Plenty of room for a hoist and many many toys!

Terry.

My 4 toys fit very well leaving me room to still work. I want to get a lift, and re-do the lines for the compressor. After that I want to finish rocking the walls and then look into epoxy for the floor.

Chevy guy... huh? ;0) Luv the Lighting, I too have a 2001, but I see you have the 2003 and newer wheels on yours. Looks like a great shop to move into, tons of room for your toys! I'll get mine posted here soon, a pic of the lighting may appear as well. Good to see another Washingtonian on here... Good luck!

Yep, I can so see a 2 post lift in your future! Nice size and bonus that the house gets a separate garage.

I actually have a 2015 Tahoe. I'm not brand loyal, I just like lightnings. The cobra is the wifes and the gold car has been in my family since 1969

Ya, it has 04 wheels on it, built motor, kenne bell, built trans, detroit locker, some interior work, full hotckis tvs.... the list goes on.

Ya, the house(which the wife calls her garage) is big enough for the two main rigs with an empty stall to just put **** in.

I should take some more recent pictures, but its a mess from me cleaning out all the tool boxes.

Thank you. We bought the house from the original owners who built it themselves. So it's very over built.

Dusten: if your house was a 2000 square foot rambler you would've bought the house we are hoping to build when my youngest of 5 kids moves out (the twins are 25 now and finishing up college while working full time). i'd give the 2 garages of the 3 to my wife attached to the house and i'd get the shop (hopefully that's the plan).

sweet home and nice shop. the ceilings inside your shop must be 12 foot tall or taller? I've heard some lifts need 12 foot 2 inches for full height so check out the specs before deciding on your lift. also i have a 20 x 20 storage unit with 14 foot ceilings that i park my trailer in and so i don't lose all the space above it i put up 8 foot wide racks that are 12 foot tall and 4 feet deep to drive the trailer under. the racks are like the ones you see at Costco or Home Depot and you can buy 10 and 12 foot widths if you might want to gain some storage on the side of your garage without the lift. with a house and 3 car garage storage might be your last piece of the puzzle so ask if you want to see some pictures of mine and i'll take a few.

again welcome to the forum and ask if you have any questions and we'll try to help.

cheers

That's what we do. My place is ~3000 sq feet, the garage is ~750 and the shop is ~1200

Ceilings are 15', doors are 12'.

Storage isn't much of a concern, the shop has a loft.

Sweet setup and nice toys. Is that a real Gold Nugget car or did you just name it that? The gold nugget Mustangs were limited. Not super rare, but not many made.

Love the house and shop, I'm jealous.

Dusten: for storage in your case since you do have the loft i was thinking long pieces of lumber or steel. or as handy as you are maybe a few car frames and parts that you didn't want to lug up and down the stairs.

for now it looks like you have plenty of space so ask questions if you might have any or PM me if you might want some pictures of my jam packed storage unit.

looks like a great place to work and play

Great looking space. But I will suggest that you get the wallboard up asap. The longer you wait the less chance it will happen. So many of us have made the mistake of moving into the shop before it was finished. The wall gets hidden behind the stuff and the project of getting the wallboard up becomes to great to attempt. BTDT

Dusten: it should go without saying that I (we) are jealous of having a nice big shop that is new to fill as you wish. good luck and ask questions or just keep posting pictures if you don't need any help.

Strouty: are you saying even if Dusten doesn't need or want my storage pictures i should have posted them? i probably would have if I had any so he (and you) could see. since it sounds likes Dusten is good for now how about you PM me with your email address and i'll gladly go take a few and email them to you.

i'm going to start an Organizing thread since i have a lot of stuff, but i need to get more organized. :bounce:

It's just a matter of funds. The side if the shop that isn't done isn't getting shelves or equipment. It's where I park my 68, so I don't want anything by it

Budget is a great word, I just don't understand what it means.

I second the opinion of ASAP wall treatment. I also might suggest putting OSB down first, then drywall. It makes it so you can attach cabinets or shelves anywhere.

Decided to shoot some updated pictures. I got the mess cleaned up from consolidating, organizing, and deciding what to sell in regards to all the tools I recently moved into the shop. Also did a little cleaning and hung a few more wall ornaments.

That is a nice shop, very spacious. Are you planning to have any type of lifts in this shop? you definitely have the head room!

I am, I had it planned for this year, but the cost for it was more than I anticipated. So I allocated the funds elsewhere, and hopefully by next year I will have one. I still need to get a more permanent source of heat, finish the drywall and finish insulating the loft.
