LED Strip Wire Hiding - Ideas needed

So I took a chance and ordered up 2 LED strip lights for testing purposes...Color me impressed! So, my only issue is how to hide the wiring.. I really only need to get power to the first one "Cleanly"...I'm a little OCD and Form follows function, so I REALLY wasn't planning on having receptacles on the ceiling, not to mention for the ones I've already pre-wired, it will be quite hard due to how I put board blocking behind the sheetrock to make it easy to screw fixtures to.

I took one apart, not really much chance to drill & pass my wires from the back side. I cant imagine I'm the only one who's thought of using these? They really work nice, I can tell you I'm all done buying bulbs & ballasts for the various T8 & T12's I have in the house, I'll be swapping over to these for sure. But in my shop, it all boils down to getting them installed cleanly...

Use plastic self adhesive wire mold to hide the wire in.
you can cut it to any size and they have Inside and outside 90 degree corners that you can add.

Two questions. . .
1. What is the brand of these fixtures, or do you have a web address?
2. Are you trying to conceal the existing power cord as soon as it exists the end of the fixture, or are you attempting to rewire/reroute entirely the power cord so that power does not come into the receptacle at the end?

No brand marked anywhere on any of the boxes or the fixture. I don't have a web address, but if you shoot me a PM I can get you the phone number if you want to get some, met the guy on a Farming forum I frequent, he's been selling LED lights there for a while, lots of guys loving life with these...

These fixtures look great and affordable. . . I'm a bit hesitant to start ponying up money to a guy selling on another site products that have no brand name. . . .call me jaded.

There are many forms of wire raceways. You can find one that looks clean, I'm sure.

Hey, no need to explain...I feel the same as you. This guy has been a longtime seller of LED stuff over on that forum, so in that respect I'm not worried about the business side of things, and as for the product its nice stuff to me. I could outfit my entire shop with equivalent lumens for 1/2 the price. I can tell you for sure I will be outfitting my attic, finished basement, and basement workshop with these LEDS going forward no doubt about it.

The self adhesive ones are listed for low voltage only because of the adhesive.

That's not to say that you couldn't use W-mold straps with the self adhesive plastic Wiremold to get around it

Thanks for the heads up... To me anyways, its good to know the numbers may/may not be exact, but the light output of these things is amazing.

If anything that post has me even more "outraged" and P.O'ed at Lithonia right now...180.00 for a fixture that costs them 10.00 to produce. As mentioned, because of the mounting/wiring asthetic issues I have with these lights, I don't think I'll be getting any of them to do my shop, BUT going forward, I will never buy another bulb or ballast for the various 4' fixtures I've got scattered around in places where mounting appearance doesn't matter....I will be going with these for sure, if anything seeing these has made me a believer of LED, and even just going with T8's for now is pretty much off the table.

I'm just gonna use my temporary CFL lighting for a bit longer until the Lithonia Z strip LED comes down in price or there are like for like alternatives/Chinese knock off version.

the power cord they use is the same one dell laptops use, search ebay for mickey mouse plug tons will pop up if you wanna be electrical nerd the connector number is

Yeah, you are what inspired me to dig further into it!
Ohhh, good call on the laptop power supply...the older IBM laptops used a similar cord, I'm gonna go try to see if we still got some...

the only bummer, Cords only come in black unless you wanna pay silly cash, so white shrink wrap helps alot, also if you are going to daisy chain the lights you have to be perfectly straight and a drop of crazy glue helps alot

Yeah, for where I will install these, it wont matter..I love the lights, just don't like the wiring style, it would be nice if they would have made a flush mount/starter box for example. If I could just backwire these like a traditional fixture, I'd be sitting here anxiously waiting my order

Up in the attic and in my house basement...these will be awesome!

You guys swapping LEDs in the garage from fluorescents, do you have any issues with shadowing? I bought a LED work light and it is really bright BUT... it cast shadows on my work bench that I can't get used to. Never had the problem with fluorescent lighting.

Beam spread of a typical LED is about 120° compared to the 360° from a fluorescent.

Surface mount a box then get a cover with a 1/2" KO in it. Place a cable gland in the 1/2" KO and you're good to go.
