So I'm going to be swinging by Harbor Freight on Monday and picking up a couple things. I'm curious which you all think would be the better deal if I have to pick up something now and wait on some of it till later.

I know I need my 44" box eventually but the funds aren't there for that right now.

They have the lit/powered workbench down to $80
The 3 ton jackstands for $40
The low profile keeper for $20
The 26" 4 drawer tool cart for $120
The 3 ton steel low profile jack for $83
The 27" 11 drawer tool cabinet for $160

Which of these are must buys and which of these are deals that come around all the time?

None of those are great deals, hf just says everything is a deal, literally everything, look at flyers. Save for the 44" or look for a box on craigslist and as for the workbench, get one of their powerstrips for free an buy some cull at home depot and you got a bench for $10

I got the 3 ton jack stands for $19 about 3 weeks ago. One Item you should get is their digital automotive battery tester, even at their full price it is a great tool. If they have their torque wrenches on sale get the inch pound one. I bought one about 1 month ago for $9.99 really like it.
yes a lot of their tools are not such a great deal. For instance their oxy acetylene torch. , I found a victor set just the same even with a 10cu ft acetylene and 20 cu ft oxygen for welding and cutting for $100 more than the HFT rig.. their bench drill press , found one at home depot or somewhere that has a laser pointer light and other features for $10 more. Don't get me wrong, I really really like HFT you just have to do comparison shopping now all the other stores now know about HFT and they have slashed their prices... one more, Lowes has an awesome corded impact wrench for $149 . 350 ft pounds and comes with 6 or 8 impact sockets and molded case. I bought the HFT 230 FT pound for $39 if I had known I would have gotten the Lowes impact .

Check the Harbor freight coupon thread on GJ.
Every day is sales day on the items you listed.
Get the coupon, then get the four drawer cart if you have to buy something.
I'd rather have five of those than the 44" if I had to choose.

If you have a 44, that's all you have.
If you have multiple carts you can configure them in to many size tables as needed, have specialty carts, use four of them legs for a 4'x8' table when you need one....
Well you wouldn't be getting 5 four drawers for a 44" more like 3 2/3.

I'd be wary about the torque wrenches is I was op, I heard that some people got china ones instead of the taiwanese ones.

Thanks a lot! I'll probably hold off on most of that stuff except maybe that red cart. I already have the torque wrenches from them and I have a Craftsman analog 1/2" tq wrench for engine building.

HF is garbage. Safe your cash for real tools that are safe.

Dependents what you buy and your intent use of those tools, about 80% to 90% of the stuff are probably junk-ish but there are few that are good. so it's the buyers beware when you walked in.

I would pass on that creeper if you weigh over 100 lbs. Mine warped and drug the ground after only a few uses.

no idea on quality but this is normal coupon price

The 3 ton jackstands for $40

if 3 ton this is ripoff... these are $25 without coupon all day every day $20 with coupon (20% off or just common $19.99 coupon)

if you meant 6 ton that's normal coupon price

The low profile keeper for $20

skip it... the reviews don't paint a pretty picture and it's surprising they can advertise a 300lb weight limit when so many people well under that limit have had major problems

The 26" 4 drawer tool cart for $120

always a coupon for this for $100-110

The 3 ton steel low profile jack for $83

good deal... lowest coupon i've seen lately was $85

The 27" 11 drawer tool cabinet for $160

normal coupon price... can't speak on the quality though

Harbor freight sales usually aren't super sales kind of like couponed price but on a day instead of a coupon. But if you need the stuff don't let that stop you I suppose. I mean if you need jackstands or a jack by all means go and buy them. (don't use stuff that's about to fail!) Some of the other stuff you can wait it out and end up paying near the same.

Yes it is the 6 ton for $39.99. My fault. It looks like the steel jack, and the tool chest would be my best bets if I need to buy something but it doesn't look like any of them are deal deal deals that I must run out and buy. I might just hold on to my money a little longer and look on CL for some decent deals.

I'm in the process of building my first garage and so I'm slowly trying to fill it. Money will be very tight because my mortgage on the house/garage will stretch me as far as I can comfortably be stretched.

Do you guys have to print the HF coupons or can we simply just show them a picture of it?

It really depends on the store. I've had in Portland, OR balk at an unprinted coupon on my phone and Eugene, OR claim that they couldn't accept a coupon where the barcode didn't scan (but the manager ended up taking it anyways).

The the two closest to me (Salem and Albany, OR) have no issue with me showing them the coupon on my phone, and then keying in the number (having me read it off to them).

I doubt it will hold 300 lbs, but my 180 lbs has no problems on this creeper. I've owned it for about two years and it's fine. No complaints, no problems. The little plastic nutdriver that comes with it for assembling the casters is a joke, but I didn't buy it for the included tool set. For under $20 it keeps my *** off the concrete.

Last time I showed the guy a 20% off coupon on my phone, he grabbed one out of the trash and scanned it. Said it was easier than keying in the numbers.

all they really needed is that number under that bar code, they can input it in manually..... just that some HF "manger / employee" likes to play god, and make up their own policy regarding allowing or now allowing proper coupons... the one near me really dependents on the time of the month thing, some times they allows , some times they just give you that piss face. If it is full moon they are really nice and hard working, any other days, it's rolling a dice. Pointless to argue with them as well.

I've had that creeper for years with zero problems. I usually weigh between 170-185lbs. Works perfect for me :dunno:

I understand that some of you have something in your crawl about HF and I'll agree 100% that they have a ton of stuff that is nothing but **** but they have a number of things that seem to pass the inexpensive but not cheap test.

I don't work on stuff for a living. I am a DIYer. If they paid teachers more I might could afford better stuff but my $25,000 in student loans and my 40,000 a year salary just don't play well together. Oh and that is with a master's degree and 13 years of experience. I haven't had a raise in 8 years.

I'll have to keep buying some things at HF and wait for the rock bottom deals on the good stuff.
