i managed to keep a job but on lower pay... . we'll see hw it goes. hopefully the builders will have all the junk out of the garage by the weekend so i can take pics. need to get the bench up there to test fit it in place to see how flat the floor is and adjust the leg heights before powder coating

test fitting the bench on the floor. most of the legs touch the floor. slight adjustemnt and she'll be good to go once i add the doors and paint.

Not much progress. Got the bench powdercoated and started on the storage racks. picked up some file cabinets really cheap and sprayed them to match the toolbox. Smaller file cabinets still being painted..

You can get them for next to nothing and I've always wondered how practical they'd be in a shed.

A couple of drawers are filled with spray cans/ wd40 etc. i have car parts in another and i put power tools in another couple of draws. holding up fine so far. im guessing weight would be about the same as a few thousand files!
only mod i may consider is to build up the sides of the draws with aluminum sheet so i can fill them up higher without it spilling out the sides.
bang for buck they cant be beat. i got the big four draw ones for $30. you couldnt buy a toolbox that big for that sort of $.

heres a couple of non garage pics...
first is the lounge. all that work hiding wires payed off with the TV clean on the wall. Its only a 46". Wifey says we need a 60". haha yes Mam!
The Vintage chest was bought off an auction site. One of my boys asked if it had treasure in it when we got it home.
next is the kitchen/living area before we moved in. It looks a bit drab but its come up nicely with artwork etc to brighten it up. We went for a composite granite sink which is a bit different from the usual stainless steel.

thanks! . the TV is the main media hub, i have my home theater PC connected to it so it displays all my internet/music/videos controlled by the wireless keyboard and logitech remote

only progress so far is adding some 3mm steel plate to the benchtop on the left 1/3 or so. that way i can work on the chainsaw etc and do dirty tasks without making a mess on the wooden benchtop.

did a trial fit of the gates after i added the timber cladding. Cant wait to get them painted/pwdercoated!
Hopefully they'll look classy and not motorcycle club headquarters!

Gates are looking good! To avoid the MC HQ look, I'd keep the wood a lighter color. It contrasts well with the dark of the house and the steel of the gate.

Very impressive house. Nice layout and everything is just little different than what I'm used to, but I like it. As others have said, the quality looks very high. Could you say a little more about the roofing? What is the material of construction and how is it applied?

Also I've never seen scaffolding like that on a home job, anywhere. I might have stayed in that business if it weren't for hanging from or standing on makeshift **** to try to work on the high places When I had that job, (many many years ago) it was a badge of honor to do stupid things in the name of productivity. You system looks much safer.

Bob the roof is concrete tiles. basic install involved fitting the horizontal timber to hang the tiles on then go crazy fitting them up. it took 2 guys under 2 days to fit the entire roof and grout all the caps for our 216m2 house. i was impressed. they even put gutter gaurd mesh in the valleys.
one interesting note was that in NZ it is not common practice to fit any sort of building paper under the tiles. seems strange to me with all the other strict code requirements.
