what metal burns purple?

We make a lot of automotive ac lines. I was making some today from a Volvo semi truck. I had a hard time getting my aluminum welding rod to stick to this stuff. It made a weird purple glow.

What kind of material could this be?

Potassium chloride gives off a purple flame. Not sure how that fits into metal AC lines though...

Used ac line from a Volvo semi. I cleaned it with the stainless wire wheel like usual.
