Well, if ya'll will kindly allow me to include the last three days:

I put the Jeep (Cherokee) up on my new HF scissor lift to swap a tire out. I also mounted a new OEM bumper on it since the $650 purchase price didn't include the winch bumper.

Today I put my John Deere F725 mower up in the air in order to take the deck off easily. I've got a spare F725 so this deck will have to be patched before I can start using it again.

So far I'm loving the lift. It lifts up both cars, my Jeep and my mower with no problem. I might have to buy some Greg Smith adapters to lift a few of the trucks I have, but I'm in no hurry. My bil is bringing his Explorer over on Sunday so we can drain and fill both the oil and the transmission fluid. We'll throw a new gasket and filter kit at the transmission as well.

Today I finished up putting a new timing belt and water pump on our daily driver '98 Acura Integra. Adjusted the valves and did an oil change and coolant change at the same time. I used a Gates kit. Looked to be high-quality parts. In fact the tensioner in the kit was the same Koyo brand as the original that came out of the car.

There's not much room in that engine bay. I think this calls for some new tools :D. Specifically a set of mid-length metric 1/4-inch drive sockets and a long-handle 1/4-inch drive ratchet (length needed for reach not torque).

You should start a new topic on the lift. Talking to a guy now on buying his mid-rise lift. What kind of room is available underneath?

One of my least favourite jobs, refilling the spools with line on my line trimmer. It has a four line head so four of the buggers to do, I always seem to end up loosing grip on them and the whole lot unravelling itself. Actually went pretty smoothly for once.

Threw up some drywall to patch the hole where the pipe burst. (the entire process of drywalling takes forever)

Gave up on trying to get a 6ft steel bench into my garage and cut it down to 5ft 9inches.

Now matter what I did, I couldn't find 3 inches.

Backstory - took the head off the 15 T to the local machine shop to have it resurfaced (it got hot and had enough warp to pop head gaskets, damnit!), they threw in magnafluxing it as well, figured better to be safe than sorry...

Fast forward to yesterday. Got the call from the machine shop, the head has a crack between the 2 and 3, thru 2 bolt holes, and up the side of the head about 3/8". The guy told me about glopping silicone around the head bolts to seal it (WTF?? What do I look like, a girl... oh, nevermind...) told them, no, fix it right. Weren't very happy about it, but that's what they get paid for. If it wasn't the matching number head for the car (damn ford put casting dates on these things back then... grumble grumble) I could have just replaced the thing.

Should hear back today or tomorrow how the surgery went, really convoluted as they have to access it thru the coolant ports. Cross your fingers.

Finished construction of the shelf (wife has the pictures) and started moving the initial containers of parts. Sorting all this hastily packed stuff is going to take a while.

Also received my switch box for the compressor in the mail. Bought the breaker. Now just need to run the cable up the wall and through the attic.

Brought in the power washer I borrowed from my step-dad, along with his yard roller that needs some welding work done to it.

Kinda weird how things have changed that I'm working on something of his and not the opposite.

Got the old electrical/conduit taken down and all the trim painted. A couple spots I need to touch up.

Made some more progress on the painting prep for the 91 Dodge D-150 but things keep ***********. Bumpers that were good enough are now getting replaced with new, new emblems (at about $40 each), the engine compartment touch up has morphed into a full detail with hose replacement, paint, new valve covers etc., and the steel wheels I was just going to paint white with spray paint are now looking at a powder coat. All this for my parts runner and the list is growing I sure am having fun with it.

Just picked up a John Deere 325 last weekend. After work I ran to the mower shop to pick of my the wheels with the V61's I had them install. Then I ran to JD Dealer to get the transaxle filter, hydraulic filter and Hygard Low Vis. Got home, installed the V61's, pulled the seat pan, drained the trans and knew it was bad when it was really tight and didn't want to come loose. Needless to say, threads came with it. I had to run to the parts store to get a helicoil. I installed it, dumped some fluid through it with the plug out to make sure I didn't leave any shavings and changed the filters. Put it back together, changed the spark plugs, swapped out the rear wheels/tires, swapped out the seats and put the 44 Piranha on it. That was about 11:45. Sat on the back porch for 15 minutes and drank another beer, then got a quick shower. This weekend I hope to find time to change the oil, filter air filter and fuel filter.

Replaced pads, rotors, hardware on the Caravan. Ground a ton of rust off the caliper brackets so the pads would move smoothly on the stainless slides. Found out the bleeping dealer over torqued nine of the lug nuts to over 200 ft lbs at the last warranty service. Manual says 95. One of the lugs was spun up so tight that it basically became welded to the stud and had to be dug out the hard way. Cleaning up later today.

I might just do that. For my lift I think there is a good 53" inches of height to work under. I was actually stunned at how much I can access while sitting on my shop stool.

I've actually got it in my shop backwards so the lift pistons would be towards the back of the vehicle. This leaves me working in front of (or in-between if I choose) the legs with the rollers on them. I have full access to the bottom of my Cherokees' engine all the way back past the transmission. On my two fwd cars, I could easily drop the whole engine/transmission assembly without catching anything.

I'll try to post a thread up either Sunday evening or on Monday sometime.

Buzz, those look great! What is the material you used? Is it just a laminate or something fancy?

Thank you Strouty.
It is pvc sheet material from the local plastic dealer we have. Comes in all kinds of colors and was $56 bucks for a 4x8 sheet. The most expensive part of all this is the door track. I am very pleased with the end result and a much cleaner looking area now.

Friday I finished rebuilding the tractor axle:

All new bushings, PTO bearings, Spindle bushings and thrust bearings, hub bearings and seals, ball joints, etc.

Then I primered the frame rails that came back from the sand blaster.

I did the same with my lift, since I work mostly on front drive cars it gives me a lot more room to work....I'm limited by ceiling height but the lift has been a godsend to my poor old aching back!

I've only seen a few of these in my lifetime, and yesterday I got TWO of them in to restore! When I'm finished with my work, one is going directly to Mr. Norm (of Grand Spaulding Dodge) for an autograph. How cool is that?!?

The one on the right will tie in with a one-off custom pair of big block Mopar Performance valve covers (now in factory black wrinkle) and billet breathers that arrived with the Tri-Powers. My customer's color scheme idea is delicious and it will be a fun job to do, but there's quite a few in line ahead of him so it'll be awhile before I get underway.

The one on the left turned out to be a wonderful surprise -- it's for me! It's not been lovingly or properly adored in its past but I know a chick who can probably improve on it a bit. Flip in my future? Maybe ... :) It depends somewhat on whether my feminine wiles can persuade Mr. Spaulding to sign two. LOL

Finally got my old (but rarely used!) Sears Gamefisher 3 HP outboard running. Had to drain all traces of the old gas/oil, but with fresh in the tank it fired right up. Sold for $300.00! :)

Cleaned up the mess after the brake job last night. Took my dead vent fan apart and found that drywall dust had sucked all the oil out of the bearings. Cleaned, lubed and now it works. Started cleaning the last of the **** off my bench.

Assembled this for 2 gallons of dry camp running water for washing up, after meal cleanup and even showers if needed.

This is version No. 4. I also have my original from a Soda Acid fire extinguisher, (2-1/2+ Gallons) A soda fountain tank (5 gallons) and a short SS sprayer. All these need a separate pump.

This new one is self contained, and will be used for quick overnighters, and for carrying in the rig, while the big one stays in camp.

I added a clamp for keepong the tube on place securly:

Cleaned up after SIL's deck build, cleaned and stored the tools I used. Cut the grass at the lake house. Put a vanity plate on the front of the new truck - holes were there looking funny so I stuck this on.

Not in my garage but in my "man cave". Finally got the new fan/light hung with remote control. Amazingly, everything worked correctly the FIRST time! I know, I was just as amazed as you are!
