Those round heads are either China or Taiwan. More recently (for the past year or two), they have had USA made torque wrenches in stores (same as Gearwrench or Matco). And right now they are switching back to an Asian torque wrench (both the USA and newer Asian ones can be seen on the shelves).

The USA wrenches got me wondering about my old Husky Pro. If it was imported, would there have to be a country of origin stamp by law? Would the US patent indicate that it was made in the USA?

I would guess Stanley for the supplier and China/Taiwan for the country of origin.

My understanding is that the COO has to be noted on the product itself only if the product does not come in packaging (think open-stock wrenches or shirts). Otherwise, they can note it on the packaging or label instead.

"US" patent most definitely doesn't indicate that it was made in the USA. In fact, I think it's often used as a (legal) deceptive technique so manufacturers can print "US" or "USA" on a tool and mislead customers into thinking the tool is made in the USA (an easy mistake to make at first blush).

mmm...thanks for the info.
