We lost power at 0800. Cleaned the bench. A friend dropped over and we investigated a vibration in his car. Installed all the little plastic wire races for my garage door sensors and control. Power came on. Cleaned up the wire race mess. Brought in the Dingo for brush hog work. Unwrapped the new brush hog parts. Welded up a moose hook that I broke. Played at cleaning off the drywall dust from the heat plant. Swept up again. Decided to go upstairs and make supper.

We bought a Family Safely storm shelter recently and it needed a few cosmetic touchups so we did those today.

Billy was feeling a little rowdy -- paint fumes??? Lol -- and decided he wanted to be a Hot Mopar Babe too. Just keep your damn heels off my paint dude! :)

I'll have a real problem if he wants us to call him Caitlyn now ... :lol_hitti

No clue why my pics weren't orienting properly the first time since they showed up fine for me (had to get on the computer to fix it). Tapatalk Issue x2 here.

Weird, I uploaded it off my phone

It's posted as a 2656x1494 image so you have to scroll WAY right to see it all. :)

Seems like Tap-a-talk isn't scaling your photos down from your camera phone's default size...

Got the rest of the conduit up in the garage this weekend. Just need to pull the wire now and get the outlets hooked up.

Actually worked in the garage a bit this weekend. Got in a coil for my sons Camry, so installed it and got that car out of the garage. He drives 120 miles a day to work, so being without it for a week costs him in gas when he has to take our SUV instead.

Started to re-bevel the edges on a Chicago Cutlery knife set for my oldest daughter, then had an emergency call that one of the dams I'm responsible for was overtopping due to a huge thunderstorm and flash flood. Spend the next 8 hours on that emergency and inspecting 3 dams.

So, today, finished edging the knife set and sharpened them. With the correct double bevel sharpen, now they're good for a few years of sharpening with the steel and occasional stoning until they become too rounded and need reprofiled again.

Then, took off the front brakes on my truck, replaced the pads, and replaced the brake fluid. Then, oil change. Good to drive for a while now.

Nice having the right tools and space to work. Saved about $350 to $500 in mechanics bills diagnosing and fixing the Camry, and doing the brake work and oil change. I kind of like doing this work, as long as I don't do it all the time. Kind of like the emergency with the Dams: My wife said, "bummer that it happened on a weekend and ruined your Saturday". I told her that I'm glad to have an interesting job that pays well, and this is a part of it.

Finished the door opener, programmed the new remotes, wireless keypad, and both the homelinks in the cars that go in the garage. Its amazing how much quieter the new belt drive is than the old chain drive next to it.

This weekend all my work was carried out outside the garage but I was in and out for tools etc.

I mucked out the inside of the blazer, then I washed it, got the cutting compound out and hand polished out some scratches where I had to dive into a hedge thanks to a half blind old lady and her white knuckled approach to driving on a single width road. Then the whole thing got a coat of Autoglym super resin polish and the glass all got rain-xed. I then fixed the intermittent fault on the drivers side rear window, measured up all the speakers for replacement, checked and topped up all fluids etc.

I then moved over to my project 67 C10 which I've owned for 13ish years and which was once my daily driver. It's been sat since a bunch of small issues took it off the road, then kids came along, money time etc etc. It moved house with us and frankly I've done nothing to it since so I've resolved to put some time in on it this summer. Yesterday I decided to see if she'd fire up, freshly charged battery, turned her over by hand, all free so I spun her up and.......nothing! not a flicker. Tried a bit of starting fluid and she did cough so I guess I had a spark so started going through the fuel system. It has a carter electric fuel pump down on the chassis rail, pulled the fuel line to it, nada so guessed i may have drained the tank last time I did anything. Dumped a couple of gallons of fresh gas with stabil in it in the tank and still, nothing. If all else fails, go old school and I blew up the line and heard it gurgle, so sucked on it and got a good mouthful of stale gas, lovely! refitted the pipe to the pump, turned the pump on, hummed happily but still nothing at the new billet fuel filter I fitted last time out. Pulled that off, took it apart, dry as a bone inside. Realised then that its also a one way valve and I ahem, cough "may" have fitted it **** bout backwards, refitted it, ran the pump, turned her over and she fired up, a bit of smoke but eventually she settled down to an almost smooth idle and I think it was pretty much firing on all eight.

Gave the engine bay a quick clean up, realised the back half of the brake master was empty so I've probably had a line rust through somewhere, pedal goes to the floor way too easily. Thats not an issue really as I have all new brake parts to go on, master cylinder, wheel cylinders plus a new booster and all the brackets and linkages to go to power brakes. I just need to get myself a decent brake pipe flaring tool and learn to make new pipes.

First up will be replacing the leaking water pump (have a new one of those too) and pull the rad, take it to a specialist to solder in a bung for the temp sensor for the derale fan controller and then make a shroud for the 16" volvo electric fan I have hung up in the garage.

I'm going to try and do a little every week.

Nearing the end of a major clean out and rearrangement of the garage, my old work tool box should be installed in it's new spot by tomorrow. Of course I found room to keep a couple of my favorite things around. My old vinyl, and my old magazines (500 lbs. worth!) Some things I'll just never part with.

Nice collection. My wife recently made me clean out my closet and I ended up throwing away some old Hot Rod, Street Rodder, National Dragster, Hot Bike and Custom Bike magazines. Probably some of the same ones in your pile there. Yes, it was a sad day.:(

Got all the new outlets in. Have them spaced at most 4' apart on all walls. Each wall is on it's own circuit.

Hopefully fixed a leak on the lower rock box on the rear cylinder of one of the Harleys.

Also, came up with a new battery strap since the stock one broke, this one should last the lifetime of the bike.

It hit 103 degrees here today, but still got the shelves removed to make room for my old work box. Removed the drawers, pulled off the side cabinets, removed the casters, and got the box onto the lower shelf, leveled and reassembled.

Original Quote - This is interesting. I've seen others do it but havent tried it myself yet. I was thinking of plastic dipping the Bronco. How durable is it? Any special prep prior to applying it?

Patrick, it feels pretty durable but only time will tell. Supposedly it can last 2-3 years with proper care. It is a temporary measure for me until I can get the car properly painted.

As far as prep goes, the car had to be washed really well so that no oil, grease or other dirt was on the surface to be painted. It had to be completely dry otherwise the Plasti Dip would not bond. Air temp had to be at least 70 degrees and dry. I taped off some parts of my garage like the floor and some items I did not want overspray to land on. I wore a 3M mask that had replaceable filters.

Got an old Mopar air cleaner assembly finished up earlier ...

... and have another one, this time for an AMC / Jeep, in the oven now. Both had seen many better days; they were pretty pitted and needed more bodywork than usual.

I think it's so hot out here tonight I could get a partial cure on this thing without even using the oven! :)

And dammit, my pics are still screwy. Tapatalk and my Casio Commando do not get along. It changed "tapatalk" to "fastball" three times. I need a freakin' laptop LOL
