Hey guys, my name is Lane and I'm a long time lurker. Out on the road I have a lot of time to think about projects for when I get home, and lately I have been thinking about building a trailer. I want to do something kind of custom. In the front I plan to have a wind breaker, behind that I'll have a toolbox, a small generator, and and air compressor. I also plan to do tire storage on top of the generator. The entire thing will be built out of aluminum, and will have a diamond plated floor. As for the ramps I plane to do long ramps that collapse and slide into the undercarriage of the trailer.

Basically I'm asking for plans to get me started that I will modifty later, or even pictures.

Thanks everyone,

Lane

Put a receiver on the floor in the front. You will be surprised how handy it is to be able to slide in a winch or other assortment of stuff on a drawbar.

If you plan on making a tilt bed the height of the deck and also the location of the pivot for the tilt is crucial to get your c5 up without issues. Last thing you want is to carry extra boards with you defeats the purpose of the tilt altogether.

Look at the sloan Quick Load trailers for a rollback design.

I bought one a few years ago - best trailer I've ever owned.

I put a receiver on front with a winch attached. I added some extra weld-on d-rings for tie down. I put on some stake pockets so I could add side panels for hauling landscape materials.

Sounds like you're wanting to build the perfect design!
Unfortunately it doesn't exist [ if it did I would be building one myself ]

Build a conventional design, it always will stand the test of time. But concentrate on building it with thought and quality materials instead of fancy engineering ideas.
Style will always trump engineering novelty [ just like a car is only as valuable as it's paint job ]

You can build a nice ground loading air-bagged easy loading trailer, but all this is a waste the day you need to haul a pallet of paving stones or a piece of machinery.
