Not even close to the HF vise. Better construction and materials. It's a clone of an english style vise, but not as cheaply done as the chinese imports.

NorCa: since you are new member you'll find out we all don't agree on everything. one thing we do often is talk it out. we do like more pictures so feel free to post more as you can.

it could be an import from China or Taiwan which isn't as good as an older English vise which it has the styling of. my guess is it's a European made vise and not a little one since my Leinen German vise that has a 150 (6 inch in our language) weighs over a 100 pounds.

how much does your vise weigh or approximately since you already have it on the bench. i'm guessing 80 pounds?

also welcome to the forum and hope you stick around to join our group for the long haul.

Thanks for the feedback. I did some google searching but didn't come up with any credible info or other pictures of similar vise's. The pic I posted was on the previous owners bench.

I removed it, and it was'nt light but I would say its definitely less than 100 lbs. I will post up some pics when I get it mounted at home. And maybe throw it on a scale just for fun :)

NorCA,
Welcome to the group.
IMO: You did good, as long as there were no cracks or breaks. Any more, 30$ doesn't even buy dinner & drinks at a chain restaurant.

Now you need to go to the Vises of GJ thread, and read all 1612 pages, like many of us have.
;)
