I have looked a number of times on CraigsList in my area and fine junk. I'm stopped looking bc i got tired of not finding anything.

I've got the Canadian "Craftex" version of that drill press.
I picked it up used for a decent price. So far so good, no complaints.
I haven't done any real heavy drilling with it yet though.

There are numerous old Rockwell drill presses available on CraigsList for half of that (or less).

I'm not sure about "half of that..", but this one would sell for exactly $200 in the Chicago area.

The Grizzly seems to have little better opts and plus higher amps and lower speed.

In a lot of drill press reviews the JET drill press were highly rated. Grizzly is a good drill press as well.

What's nice about the Grizzly is that it is a 2 belt 3 pulley setup. Really nice for slow metal speed drilling. A used Delta 17-900 is similar to that one.
If doing metal work work I would definitely look for the three pulley system.

I've been very happy with my grizzly bandsaw. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of their products if it meet my needs. Especially if I lived in a tool desert.
