OK, A co-worker has found something in an antique store, and neither he nor they have a clue.

I have a guess or two, but I'l see what others think...

THEY think its a tool, I'm not so sure...

Well I agree the mounting plate screams "latch" but then there is the:

  • (guessing) 15 deg of rotation each way from center.
  • odd "lever handle" looks like it's also a business end.
  • Saddle on the inside part, but the mating part closes that off for some reason...
  • The inside of that part has a revers saddle, and no closure on the ends. Coincidence? I think not...

That saddle part might be a forming tool of some sort, but that isn't much of a handle, and the rotating part would seem to make it harder to use for that...

Some odd part from a wagon or buggy?

Inquisition torture device?

Antique BSDM *** toy/tool? :scared:

The guy that sent the pics was thinking Bridle tool?

Leather may be part of the equation so maybe some specialized cobbler/shoe making thingy?

:dunno:

I'm didn't string it up there, been there a long time. I believe the line is supposed to be secured under that tab (which ours isn't), while wrapped taut around the little horned part.

Yep. actually quite ingenious! it can factor in some misalignment, and the more pressure you put on the line, the tighter the line is clamped! Pretty cool!

Thanks 3bay! I'd have never known...
