I thought I would throw these pics out there.

I added some ball bearing slides to a old Kennedy cabinet. I just used some 50# (100 combined) slides from HD I riveted the slides to the box then used button headed 8-32 screws and fender washers for the drawers. The slides in the box are sitting on top of the old slides to help with sheer forces. Other than 8 small holes per slide the box is undamaged and works a lot better the the 40+ year old worn out friction slides.

Good job, that's the way to do it, using the old slide channels as an alignment tool. Most ball bearing slides don't tolerate much mis alignment. Kennedy IMHO has the best friction slides of anyone, especially their more modern snap in slides. How much were those BB slides you bought? Name on them?

I believe they where liberty brand from home depot i think they where $13 a set. I was gonna talk to my Mac or so dealer and see about buying some but impatients got the better of me. This was my dads work box its 40+ years old and the old friction slides where just shot. I cleaned and greased them (that's white grease in the old slide) before and I still wasn't happy I intend on using this box so I wanted to make it where I am happy using it.

As far ad miss alignment I was worried about that but I used the old measure a dozen times then double check method.
Btw thanks for the complements I wanted to post this so maybe it would help someone else out that wanted to swap out slides but I was a little afraid some of the ******** collectors would give me grief.

I saw one at the habitat store that needed your help. It was cheap. I did not want another project.

I wouldn't mind doing another one but I don't think I want to dive to okc for a worn out tool box.

BTW I have put the box back in to use I have a so chest sitting on it at work
