The motor oil's a good deal at $2/qt. Do not get those stupid plastic sawhorses - they're not worth $12.99!

I wouldn't recommend the craftsman tool bags. I used a few in my truck for basics, hammers, pliers, screwdrivers. The tools broke through at the seams, one of the handles came unraveled and the bottom broke out of one. Husky bags have been much better for a similar price.

I would consider them for tie downs, rope, cleaning supplies...

Craftsman tool bags have always been fine for me in the garage, homeowner use. Sounds like they don't hold up well to being thrown around while containing things that can tear through them. Not surprising at their price point. They do look like they would hold up better than what you say, but I'll trust you on that.

Good to know about the Stanley sawhorses. I almost bought a pair of them last week. I figured being Stanley the must at least be decent. Good thing I passed.

Am I reading that right? Only $2.99 for a 2pc Stanley Plier set or those Craftsman screwdriver sets?? That's a steal.

The motor oil deal is all month in the local fliers here. $2/qt is pretty good, last time I got several years' worth.

Wait, didn't Craftsman stop making tape measures a few years back? I remember a lot of people griping about the consequences to their warranties on current tapes.

They stopped making some tapes, removed the lifetime warranty on other tapes.

None of which affected tapes that were sold with a lifetime warranty - they were still repaired or replaced, just not with another lifetime warranty product, which was never promised as part of said lifetime warranty.

Yep, the last craftsman tape that I broke was replaced with a stanley power lock that I still have.

The piano style hinge on the lower shelf starts to break the very first time you unfold the sawhorses. It only gets worse from there. I wrote a scathing but appropriate and well-worded review - Ace Hardware refused to publish it. DO NOT believe the reviews on their site - they screen the ones that make their products look bad!

I'm done with their bags. They tear too easy with tools in them. Maybe a roll of TP and they'd last. Sears is sinking fast.

I have them, I use them quite a bit. What don't you like about them?

They're made in the USA by Keter, who makes 'em for just about everyone (Blue Hawk/Lowes, Husky/Home Depot, etc etc).

edit: just saw your followup post. The piano hinge snaps back together pretty easily. Mine "came apart", but I just pushed the two halves back together. Use a little caution when you open it, and it'll be fine once they lock flat. I throw my sanders/drills/saws on it all the time and doesn't feel flimsy at all.

Got an Ace ad in the junkmail today. Front page has a coupon for 40% off any item of $40 or less. Might be worth using at Ace or taking to HD or Lowes for a competitor's coupon price match.

WOW! I hope I get that ad in my flyer. That's a great deal.

My ace has this add plus the $2.99 going on for the 4th.

Also I have used that craftsman bag every day at work for the past 3 years and I'm finally thinking of retiring it

Picked up the Craftsman pint glasses. 4 glasses and 4 coasters for $6. Dropped down from the $14.99/pair regular price. I think i will go back tomorrow and get some of those Stanley razor blade 50 packs. Cant beat it!

So I work July 3 and 4 all day. Do you think the local store will have any left on July 5 or 6 if the ad runs through that date?

Could I order it online and pick it up in the store later with this type of deal? Anyone ever did this with Ace?

No, it doesn't snap back together when the the "female" fingers have just flat snapped off.....unless maybe you have a plastic welder you're SOL

This happened on the first one I unfolded, so I figured maybe a fluke/QC issue and inspected the still-closed hinge on the second sawhorse. It looked ok so I opened w care (gently/slowly), but same story. Sorry to hear they're Keter, bummer. Never again. I'll build more of my own or pony up for quality units.

is it on now or the 4th only?
Some stores started 6/29, while others are starting 7/3.
Either way, the last day will be 7/6.

Are you sure they're the same? I thought all the Keter stuff is made in Israel.

Also, the Stanley sawhorses are rated at 800 lbs, but the Keter sawhorses are rated at 750 lbs.

I got a Square and another knife so far.

I would check that square with a known good square before putting it into use. Last time I saw squares priced at $3 they were around 1/16-1/8 out across the x-y axis.

I have the Stanley saw horses. They are ok for the money. The bottom hinge constantly comes apart but does snap back together. It is what you pay for.
