It is almost near impossible to find a used top box being sold off on its own. I've been looking for a KRL1201 for about a year in any color and have been unable to find one. Does anyone have any leads?

My 2¢? Finding 36"+ top boxes for sale by themselves is pretty rare as those that have them want to keep them with the set, otherwise no real place to put them. On more modern boxes like the 1201, I'd wager to guess that a very small percentage of owners own the top box, but only the bottom box as more of a work station. Unless you happen into someone looking to separate their set, or randomly owning just a top box. You might be better to buy an entire top/bottom set and then sell off the bottom box. :dunno:

I am in a similar boat right now with my KRA5319. A guy not too far has the exact top box I want (5208) in the matching color. He wants a bit too much for it for the shape it is in (I think) so it has me wondering, especially since my box is a bit shallower, if I should just sell my KRA and got for a bigger overall package.

That's a tough one. Not too many 1201's by themselves out there that I've seen. Craigslist didn't exist when I bought my 1201 years ago so it was damn near impossible to find one used unless your tool man had a trade in unit.

Love mine, it's like an old friend now.

I've been looking on cl for a long time, using the Google search site function. I've been thinking about buying a set top and bottom and selling my krl1001, but it a pears boxes are slow moving items and don't want to be stuck trying to self my box for a long period.

Todd if you don't mind me asking, what did you let your top box go for?

If you're looking to buy a 33" or wider top box, you have the leverage. As stated earlier, if someone keeps one of the boxes, it's usually the roller b/c people don't have a place to store the top box. And if you have the top box, you either have to get a roller to put it on or sell the top box, which there isn't going to be much of a demand for by itself.

There's been a top box off a Snap On '57 Bel Air box that's been for sale around here since the summer.

I have this one:

It has a "Metal Haven" graphic inside the top lid.

Do you have a KRL1001A or KRL1001B. They are both very nice roll cabs. If you have the 'B' model, that and the KRL1201 can be quite tall as a combo. Unless you have a step stool or are really tall that combo is treacherous with the 29" depth.

I was going for a similar set-up and decided on a KRA5315. I'm tall, yet am glad to have chosen the shorter height and depth KRA5315.

I recently found this KRL1251PBO in Houston. It was only $600 and is in excellent shape.

Where are you in located in TX? I know of a KRL791 and KRL1201 for sale in the DFW area.

I got $750 for it which was more than I paid for it and it was enough for an even swap on my new box. I replaced my krl7022/1201 combo with a krl1032. I really wanted more bench space even with the sacrificed drawer volume

If buying a new combo from a SO guy, I'd bet you would do very well in trading in your old box.

I'm in the el paso area. But If you could help me with the one in dallas I'd be willing to have it shipped or drive out there to pick her up. My box is the krl1001b. I don't mind the height at all.

Anyone have a Krl1201 or KRl791 for sell or know of one for sale?
Josh

I posted on 10.01.14 to PM your email address to me. Never received a reply. Had one of each of those chests available in the DFW area. Both are gone. A pawn shop in the DFW area recently posted a listing for a red KRL791.

Like stated above , It's going to be easier to buy a top bottom set and then sell the bottom off.

Does anyone know if a KRA5315 will happen to fit on a KR1000? It look's like it might just, but I would like to know for sure.

I have a KRA5315 that fits excellent on a KRL1001B. The top surface of the KRL1001B is ~54" wide. The width of the KRA5315 is ~53-1/8".

The KRA5315 has an inset base with a width in the 50-51" range and it raises the outer footprint ~5/8".
