Thrum: i'm guessing your American Scale # 79 weighs about 190 pounds? no hurry on this, but if you do take the time to weigh it and post the # can you measure the handle for me because i'm pretty sure American Scale made my Wilton 600 swivel jaw vise. nice find and hopefully the seller didn't damage it at all before you were able to buy it. that one is a keeper and nice find.
Drivesitfar, the handle on the no. 79 is 15.5".

Have you considered clamping a 4x2 or similar in the jaws and then when you build the box it gives you something to screw into thus supporting the vise even more without affecting the finish? Just something that popped into my head
No, its a 2C. Text the seller and he accepts my offer for $60
Dipped through the MKE rush hour traffic and almost left peeling out of his house after loading it up. Don't know what i'll do it honestly, but here it is. Jaws are cast in and the serrations can almost draw blood!Got home from work today and checked the local CL. Reed vise for sale. Meh, I don't care for Reed personally but lets open it and see. A Reed model 20No, its a 2C. Text the seller and he accepts my offer for $60

In the Milwaukee/Chicago area, as I do travel for a good deal (this one was very local), I have seen a few combos, but not too many. And they usually go for $$. I must say at like 85 lbs or whatever the 2C weighs it must be about the perfect home owner size. As soon as I found out the pipe jaws were intact, I was on my way! If they were missing I was prepared to take a pass.
The only other Reed i've owned was a 204. That got traded to Jreb in a deal for the massive Parker 436. I pass on most others I see because I just don't need a 104, 204, or anything like that. And Reeds are not on my top 5 favorite brands, but this guy is a keeper.
$10 each and I'll buy 'em bothI have 2 of these Wiltons that I plan to restore and sell.
What color would you go with? Verde Green?
What will be a fair price, assuming they turn out well?

Picked up a Record 23 vice this evening, nothing unusual there, quite a common vice you might think....... except for one thing .... this is a woodworking vice not the usual metal working viceAnd to add to that it's a woodworking vice in the style of the early Parkinson woodworking vices.
Will get some pictures in the morning as it's 3.45am here
EDIT: What am I on about? 3.45am is morning

i thought there were 4. Mine, yours, somebody in New Jerseyand then Skunkape?
Didn't Oldie run down the list of owners a few pages ago?
BC---The one that just caused all the interest is #3...The one on the East Coast came out of the hurricane wreckage in NJ...Is #1...Then there is yours...#2...And now this one...there are others, I hope...cheaper and closer...I hope...
Maybe I'm wrong but didn't Skunkape just win the one off E-bay?I only remember Big Caddys I thought was #1, mine #2, and Skunkape #3. Never heard mention of the hurricane wreckage NJ one.Maybe I'm wrong but didn't Skunkape just win the one off E-bay?

Here's the big *** Ridge vise I found nearby. Anybody want to pony up? I can possibly help with shipping since I'm within 40 miles
What's he asking? That thing looks HUGE.
Yup, it was sold by PinchPoint in Ohio. Maybe there was only 3. Mine showed up first sometime in late august, it was the holiday weekend, and I finally cleaned it up and took photos of it on Halloween.
Didn't your come from some old guy on CL for like 75.00?![]()

ALL: as far as i know 5198 total is 3 now and BC i think Econ paid $75 or $65 for his which the seller held for a few days for him. Econ has more than a few days of restoration into his now just as you do.
