Blackhawk 3/4 Chief set

I recently picked up a Blackhawk Chief set in original box of 3/4 inch sockets, ratchet, breaker bar , and a couple extensions. A few of the sockets are Craftsman, but what intrigues me is the quality of the Blackhawk parts and they don't appear to have been used very little if any. Is this a nice find, or is there not many Blackhawk guys who would appreciate a 1940's or so set in mint condition?

Pics? I know of a few collectors on here that would take real good care of them.

Here is a pic with everything the way I bought it, some of the stuff is other brands, then I showed a couple pics of just the Blackhawk sockets, most don't look used. I would be interested in hearing any thoughts or opinions, thanks.

That is one heck of a set. If I was you, I would not use it. Sell it to a collector who will preserve it and use the money to buy other tools you will use. I am not much of a blackhawk guy but don't think you would have a problem with getting at least $200 for it??

I don't plan on using them, I suspected they might be a nice "find", I just wanted others opinions. I tried finding info on line but didn't see much available, that is one reason I wanted to join this group when I saw this forum. I have always liked old tools , so it is nice knowing there are other who have the same "sickness". :)

Trust me, it's way beyond "sickness." A few more days on here and you'll reason it's nothing short of an epidemic.............

i saw these this morning, but was at work and way to buzy to comment.

there are plenty of blackhawk fans here. and i am one.
just check out the vintage blackhawk thread.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127364

i'm envious of that find. that's a really cool set.

that old blackhawk stuff is the best looking tools made and tough as nails.

i think i only have one 3/4 blackhawk socket and zero ratchet & breaker bar.
i dont NEED anything like that set, but it sure would look damn good in my 40s blackhawk tool box;)
i wont pester ya, but i'll just plant that seed:evil:

Hey Beatcad, Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Blackhawk thread!!! I now have a better understanding and appreciation for this brand, and realize how unusual it was to find a set which most pieces look like they have never been used, plus the box looks mint. It must have been in a good environment for most of its life. It also make me realize I need to look through my Dad's old tools a little closer, ( he was an auto mechanic from the mid 40' through late 70's) I will post them if I find any Blackhawk "gems". I also may try to take some better pics and post them of my 3/4 set on the Blackhawk thread, thanks again :)

That's a very nice looking 3/4" set.... Vintage 3/4" anything has usually been beat up pretty good. This set has lived a truly pampered life.

And yes, please do post this up in the Blackhawk thread. More pics of the ratchet are appreciated.
