If you were to order a techwrench today (P/N TECH2FR100) do you automatically get the B revision? I cannot find anywhere on Snap-on's website for a part number: TECH2FR100 or TECH2FR100B.

I am thinking about ordering one and if I do I want to make sure I am not going to have problems with the handle.

They've actually been revised twice so you're quite safe but to answer your question you'll get the most recent "B". The B was a pretty substantial overhaul so it doesn't even resemble the torque wrenches that had the battery compartment issues anymore.

The part# would be ATECH2FR100B, the TECH2FR100 is no longer available (there may be some old stock in a warehouse somewhere, but it wouldn't show up on the website). The B has a different handle and battery tray design than the older ones.

around 30 +/- ft lbs is normal drain plugs.

My guess is this is about compressing an aluminum washer and maintaining bolt torque. I've seen it higher- 45Nm- cast aluminum pan, al washer, big cad plated steel plug.

Left a message with my Snap-on guy to order me a 1/4 drive Techwrench. I have an intake gasket to change out once the new wrench comes in.

Yep, recently had my old 3/8 techwrench rehandled for the same issue. New handle seems pretty stout, still pissed it failed as little as i use it but oh well. Think my bill was 90 bucks.

or using a 3/8 drive torque wrench on lug nuts...:eyecrazy:

vast majority of vehicles need less than 100 lb/ft on the lug nuts...plenty in the range of most 3/8 torque wrenches...hell i use my mg31 on most lug nuts, plenty enough torque, no need for the 1/2 inch drive

Intresting I was starting to have the same issue on my 3/8 tech angle this past week on a head job that require a lot of torque plus angles.it would start beeping and vibrating as I was torquing and then finally buzz once I got to spec.but the killer was when i torqued the harmonic balancer to 30ftlbs+90*.when I got to around 50* the wrench screen went ----- and it vibrated countiously.like it wouldn't stop,I set it down and tried to change the unit.then it reset and it worked fine, but I noticed the handle is loose on the shaft and can move up and down a mm or two.

I'm not furious about it,I'm worried and want to fix it or replace it with a new one.this has been one of the most handiest tool I've purchased in the last two years.ive had it over two years now.im thinking about getting the new version and the 1/2 version too, with these new global workshop manuals starting to go Nm and other units, plus inlbs, and torquing additional degrees.these tools are very very handy.
