Yesterday I removed these floor pan bolts from our John Deere model 50...

With my new SW40E Snap On socket. That was after I watched my uncle bust 3 bits on his Napa impact driver, & attempted to break them loose with a chisel. Needless to say the SW40E took care of it no problem.

Built a workbench/bar table out of an old upper kitchen cabinet and some pressure treated wood left over from my deck.

Made a new vertical band saw table for the horizontal band saw yesterday to replace the funky one that came on the table and got it mounted today, so now I have both horizontal and vertical bands saws. Won't be cutting any big pieces on the vertical table though.

Simple project: cut the 1/4" alu on the band saw, drill and countersink two holes, Cut the slot (on the band saw), chase the grungy threads and mount up the table.

Also picked up a cement mixer for $25 for a couple of retaining wall projects Now just have to figure out how to get it down the side of the house. (to the left of the mixer in the pic). Going to have to take the axle/wheels and hitch off, turn it sideways and mount it on a couple of moving dollies and make a plank road to roll it down.

Finally bit the bullet and purchased a new water heater and installed it last night.. Not a garage item, but certainly important to keeping the basement shop dry..

:lol_hitti

Well the saga continues.. Last night on the way home (late from work) my wife calls.. There is the smell of gas in the house. I get home, she aired it out well, so started to problem solve. Found the gas valve at the water heater (that I reused, and installed a NPT adapter for the gas line) had cracked. The picture show where the crack was found where the ruler is from zero to about 3/8" to 1/2.

Now, I understand NPT (I've tapped and die cut many, quality controlled many, studied the geometry, etc.). I've also done some iron pipe work (not extensive but some). I didn't apply an unusual amount of torque to this fitting/valve, and the fact that it cracked and leaked two days later (I was monitoring my install for water leaks on a frequent basis ~ morning, evening, and before bed) really concerns me..

I've submitted this issue to UL since its a UL listed part.. and admitted the above to them.. but this valve seems extremely sensitive to this fail mode. Anyone have similar or related experience or advice for me for future consideration / sharing with all on GJ?

Just about finished up my window renovation. Got the bolts for the hinges and brass washers today. It's had a coat of rust converter, a rust preventing zinc rich primer and a coat of synthetic chassis enamel. I just need to trim the ends of the bolts down and put a couple of tack welds on the end to stop someone unscrewing them and lifting the window out.

Then I need to refit it into the opening, caulk around it and get some glass in.

Nice to know I'm not the only one that gets that kind of replies from the kid/wife....

Well my wife tells me her check engine light came on. She has an '07 trailblazer.
I pulled code p1400. I searched and found that it can be caused by a dirty throttle body. So I took it apart to check.

Does this look dirty to you? Lol. It was gummed up bad.

The picture doesn't show the thick **** that was stuck to it.

I used a soft brush and carb cleaner and its shiny again. Reinstalled it and cleared the code. Hope this fixes the issue.

Still working on the Bronco's engine components. Today I stripped the intake manifold of the layers of paint. I think I am going to polish it up because after hitting lightly with a dremel wire brush it looks good (Edelbrock Performer). I just have to find a polish or something to keep the shine. Also stripped the valve covers of many layers of paint. I found that they used to be chrome plated but eaten up bad so these will get paint.

Cleaned the C6 trans and also the transfercase. Debating if I should shot a coat of paint on them or not. The bellhousing looks good but everything behind that looks bad.

Tomorrow: finish valve covers and intake. Then install the shift kit for the C6. Then clean up the axles (front and back) and maybe put the engine and trans/transfercase back on the frame......

This may not look like much to those of you, and there are many, with very nice garages on here but I built a little stand to hold my 2.5 boxes. The table is made from pallets donated by my fabulous employer. Even the nails were reused. I tried not to cut too much to allow me to reuse as much as possible when I replace it someday. I had too much material which is why the double(2x6 and plywood) top.

A little back story... I recently moved to an apartment 700 miles from my lifelong home and families farm. I had the option of $175/month garage, $10/month storage unit or nothing at all. You can tell what my budget allowed. Like all things in life, I will keep working at it.

If I did this right it should be before and after pics.

Looks as good as new ... but probably better .. ;) ..

As for me, dropped some rusty bits in a bucket to tickle with 12v for a while, and then looked at the all the junk on the floor,

... and wished I could have wheeled out, all the mobile trolleys and shelves - that werent really being used for anything, useful,

... that I saw after waking in the recovery room at the hospital friday night ..

Worked on clearing some floor space today for my new 850-T Skat Blast cabinet I got last Thursday. I ordered it online Tuesday night, got a call from them Wednesday morning to go over the order and told me since I'm in Ohio I should have it tomorrow! wow that's great service, fee shipping to boot. I bought some Auto Body tools from them also. Thank you TP Tools.
