just got this right off the truck today the 90 teeth feels so butter like is amazing! Apparently its a brand new ratchet that mac came out with. Its feels so much nicer then my XRR11FPA that only has 72 teeth.

How is this a snap on? Your thread title is a little misleading..

How in the hell does a rocker shaft break ??:scared: ,,,,,,, unless it's not automotive related? :dunno: . Nice ratchet though it's on my list.

Haha its on an international 4300 with a DT466 POS IMO. Its a great ratchet so far still need to break it in a bit the flex head is a little to stiff for me right now.

Ehh I have so many fixed heads right now I really like the flex heads better. Im not a student no more glad not to be one anymore haha.

Bought that ratchet about a month ago and it's been a great ratchet, it's extremely smooth and just the right length.

I thought those part numbers looked familiar...

I have to say that I never really noticed it before in other pictures of the new MAC 90 tooth flex heads but, notice that the ears of the flexhead are on the ratchet head, NOT the handle:headscrat

I wonder if this design will one, eliminate head flop or side to side movement, and two, is it stronger. :dunno:

I need to but one or two to find out.

I bought the longer (18" I think) version a month or so ago. Head flop is not eliminated. I've had to tighten the torx bolt to tighten up the head head on mine several times already. With that being said, it is still a good ratchet and I really like the longer length flex-head for extra leverage. I also own the XRR11FPA and I've never been overly impressed with it. The handle on the new ratchet is great, comfortable without being overly large like the older design.

I hate to say it but I think the snap on dual 80 is still a slightly better made product. I DO like the new MAC ratchet and it is indeed smooth and I have not broken it yet. I paid about $150 off the truck.

No side to side flop like the dual 80 ratchets. I ended up trading my dual 80 ratchets for the equivalent that is out from MAC right now. Love these new ratchets.

My only complaint is that MAC got rid of the knurling on the handles.

Beautiful looking ratchet

Is the full line only available off the truck?

I only see the 3/8 ones on the mac site.

Not yet. Mac realeased 3/8 drive models first, will release 1/2 next, followed by 1/4 in maybe 2017.
If that's true that's a shame. I'm pretty eager to try the 1/4" version. I've had the long handle 3/8" for about a month now and some things I've noticed:

- It looks awesome. In person the little things like the bevels and USA on the direction selector stand out.

- Has a heavy duty feel and a level of finish that complements the price point.

- The handle is very heavy. If you break a fastener free and choke up on the handle to speed it out, you'll notice that weight.

No complaints in terms of performance or durability. However for me the weight issue is kind of annoying and I'm in the process of trading it for another Dual-80. Maybe the shorter versions don't have this fault but I recommend you try before you buy. The ratchet mechanism itself is great though and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it in a smaller body.

How much tension is on the hinge joint of the flex head?

Is it real stiff, real loose, or somewhere in between?
I'd say it's "Just Right". If you put it at a certain angle it'll stay there, but it's not so stiff that it becomes difficult to position. But in the spirit of full disclosure I'll admit I haven't tried messing with the screw. Just haven't seen any reason to yet.

I think I'm going to give the 3/8 13" comfort grip a shot. I know it's silly but, I like to have matched sets with anything so it would be great if the had the 1/4 and 1/2 available.

I think Ill shoot their customer service an email to get a timeline on the rest of the ratchets.

I just got the fixed head version of this in today and it does seem nice although I haven't put it through any paces yet. I'm going to stop by my buddies shop Monday and meet his Mac guy and pick up this version too and look at the longest one if he has it.

If you didn't figure out within a few posts that the OP made a title mistake, perhaps the internet is a little too advanced for you. Or you could try reducing the acid intake.
