250 ft lb torque wrench

Would you trust a 3/8" drive for a 250 ft lb torque wrench? (versus a 1/2")

No, I don't even know of any 3/8" that go that high.

Who makes a 3/8 that measures up to 250ftlbs? Unless someone swapped out a proto gear maybe.
I don't think 3/8 drive would be strong enough or long enough for a 250ftlbs application even if someone made one. For 250ftlbs, I like the Precision Instruments split beam flex head torque wrench in 1/2 drive.

It can be done I do not advise it unless you like difficult jobs with the potential for hernias.

Craftsman has two models going to 250 ft lb max
Sturtevant & PI have models that go to 200 ft lb max

I might be wrong but, I think the Craftsman models only measure to 250 Inlbs (inch pounds).

SK makes a torque wrench (SK74530) that goes up to 250ftlbs in a 3/8" drive, though I wouldn't feel comfortable using it near the limits.

I can't imagine anyone would make a 250lb/ft torque wrench in 3/8". My 50-250lb/ft torque wrench is 1/2" and 24" long!
