Hi,

I'm needing some help getting my MG725 stripped.

I've got as far as removing the back plate and taking out the rotor.

The forward/reverse lever, grip, top grip and end plate are all stripped

I need to get the hammer mechanism out of the main magnesium housing.

Anyone know how on earth it's fitted ? No visible method of holding it, guess it's pressed in ?

Put the back of the housing where the motor came out of down flat on your workbench and smack the end of the anvil with a soft faced hammer (not a brass one, that'll damage the anvil). That should pop everything out, hammers, anvil, front plate, everything.

If that fails, ( it should'nt) turn it anvil up and tap the back edge of the housing and the cylinder and end plate should inch their way out with every tap.

Thanks folks. Work great.

Any one ever rebuilt one ? What did you use to lube the hammer mechanism and bearings ?

Front bearing and impact assembly get Redline oil, rear bearing gets regular grease.
