Anyone note there were no combination wrenches in 1928? Didn't they come along in the mid-1930s or so?

Yes, that's true... However, I think it's fairly well-established that Plomb "popularized" the concept by introducing what we think of as a modern combo wrench in 1933, supposedly based on an earlier design of Alphonse Plomb himself...

Now, this might just be a case similar to Snap-on claiming to have invented the inter-changeable socket...
