I picked up another on the way home from work tonight in Marion, Ohio for $12.58. I bought the first one last summer for less than $10 when I first saw this thread. Still a great deal at $12.58.

Just got back from Lowes after picking up one of these sets. Got it for 12.97 like others have mentioned. It was hanging in their outdoor power equipment area. 3 left in the waterford MI store as of an hour ago

This was a clearance a year ago. I think you would be lucky to find one. If you're not looking specifically for kobalt, the new flex heads at harbor freight are nice and priced right.

Just bought 4 online from the only local store that showed stock for $5.39 each. Now to see if they actually have them.

They just called and said they are ready for pick-up there should be one left at the Glen Carbon IL store if anyone is close by and looking for one.

Should still be one left at Bonney Lake WA store. Surprised that their system didn't really tell where things are, but the guy there was really helpful, eventually located them in one of the overhead cabinets above the tool department. Price was $17 and change.
Been wanting a flex head for a while, figure the Kobalt will do fine since it probably won't be needed a lot.

Why is mine the only store that was full price

You're not missing that much to tell you the truth. Good stuff but most of the guys on here would only need the ratchet (probably have an excessive amount of the other stuff in the set already) so you could just pick up one of the harbor freight flexes with a better handle for less. If you feel the need. Just saying.

I wanted to install a soft handle on mine so I bought a replacement handle from ebay. The idea is to make it look like this:

attachment.php

However, the ratchet doesn't appear like it'll go into the handle. Do ratchets made for these soft handles look differently than ratchets that are not? Is the part that goes into the handle perfectly cylindrical? If so, a regular ratchet won't go into the handle without being put on a lathe prior to insertion.

I'm not sure about SO soft handle ratchets but I've pulled the handle off of two different cheapie soft handle ratchets and they were both cylindrical.
