I "think" I figured out what is wrong with my generator. One of the tabs on the run capacitor broke off. The capacitor reads 13uF, but the tab is not connected, I need either a source for the capacitor, or someone that I can send the capacitor and tab to and they can solder it back together.

The capacitor:
SH
13uF
250 VAC
nichicon
04V0g

Honda part number:

Honda 32383-ZC0-010

PLEASE HELP. I do not want to spend $$$$ when the issue is a broken tab

The part is $60-$100 depending on where I get it. Can I use a different capacitor that is also 13uF but 400VAC?

Yes. The voltage is a minimum number, but the UF rating needs to be right or very close.

Yes as long as it says AC, and does NOT say motor starting.

Motor running is ok.

From the picture the end of the capacitor seem to be filled with potting material. IF that's the case then you can recover the cap if you're careful.

I've used a Dremel type tool to remove the potting material around the base of the broken tab. Then you can solder a wire onto the remains of the tab.. or solder an extension onto the tab base and use it to connect to the wiring harness.

If you have a local motor repair shop you can probably get something similar (new or used) for a few bucks.

I stopped by the local shop and they said they "could, possibly" order one. I will be on the lookout for one.

If someone could source these CHEAPLY, I would be willing to send you $$$ for the capacitor (if cheap, I would buy a few), shipping, and your TIME. PM me

Would a 13.5uF work? They are CHEAP
I don't see why not. Just because it says 13uf on the part doesn't mean it is exactly 13uf. The value printed on capacitors is not exactly carved into stone, the actual value can vary a bit and still be acceptable. Any good electronic repair shop will have a Sencore capacitor checker (or similar) and they can check it for you if you want to know the more precise value of the capacitor. The capacitor that says 13.5uf may in reality be 13uf.

Why not buy the one on Ebay that the poster listed for you? $23.99 is cheap and easy!

I will, but the 13.5uF are 1/3 the cost. I only have $19 into the generator, so $24 would double my investment. If I can not source these through a GJ member cheaply, I will go ahead and buy the eBay one.

Buy that one, if the working voltage rating is the same, or higher, it should work just fine.

In looking more there are 12uF run capacitors for 1/10 the cost of a 13uf. Would that make a huge difference? I am not planning on running sensitive equipment just POWER TOOLS.

THANKS

FYI: you can parallel Caps to get the correct value if you have room. 12uf + 1uf =13uf, 6.5uf +6.5uf=13uf , voltage(work rating)would be the lessor of the two caps.
