Here is a snapshot of my finished No. 4. Old American iron just feels good to have. I will be sure to get a picture of the stamped date.

Here's my 800N, no date stamp on the slide that I can find. I feel like it may have just never been stamped. Judging by the wear on the slide and the depth of the stampings on my other Wilton and others that I have seen, there's no way that enough metal has been removed to completely erase it. Here's some pics.

I think it's just a run of the mill Schiller Park vise, just without a stamp.

SAA: so i guess Bluebolt our member that has an Excel sheet ongoing with the Wiltons and there date stamping says not any of the #800 8 inch Wiltons has a date stamp on them. since I now notice yours has the Schiller Park name in the cast it most likely was not a WWII vise because Wilton moved to Schiller Park location in 1957.

so your 800 might still have been sold to the government or because they have never been cheap maybe Wilton had a lifetime warranty on them. or no warranty because of their size just dropping it could break it. the weakest part of all the Wilton 8 inch vises and some of the 6 inch vises I've seen are the insides of the swivel so not surprising that i think yours is missing. it does look like either it came with a really cool stand or you made one with it.

thanks for posting it so i (we) can learn more about Wilton vises.

ALL & BB: i have this 9300 Wilton Bullet with a 1/67 date stamped on it to add to the list.

Drives, I think the guys hated stamping the 800's because of the size and skipped doing it LOL.

The flash washed out your date code does it read 1-67 EXACTLY?

Got my first Wilton... and its a cute little ******. Its a 2" mounted to a unusual positioning jig. Pics are as found. Date shows 11 and what looks to be 48 and near the bottom a partial 3 or 8? and possibly another partial under the 11??

BB: good eye and nose for sniffing out the bullets and cadets that don't make it to this thread on their own. thanks again for all the work you are doing. i just saw a craigslist ad with very good pictures of a 1951 Wilton 9400 4 inch wide jaw bullet stamped 9 51 for your list.

ALL: if you haven't already pulled apart your Wilton bullets and cadet vises and posted pictures of the vise and another of the date stamp please do. as you can see by BB's last find that there are still gaps we are filling in to determine Wilton's method of dating these gems.

thanks in advance

The 1957 date stamped on that Cadet is a downright mystery. Mistake or some other reason? It is the earliest Schiller Park Cadet so far. More Cadet dates are needed to help figure this out. Too little data so far.

This is a 9400 Wilton I was given last Saturday! It looks like the expiration date is 12-??-62.

AE: nice looking vise. that stamp looks like 12/31/62 so with the guar exp it's a 1957 made vise. i see the tip of the 1 on top and a very faint 3 so sort of a guess, but i'd bet on it. it also looks like a nice rust patina over maybe the Wilton light green paint.

Given?!?!?! Very nice. Just out of curiosity, is that a 3 foot or a 4 foot base?

Yes free is a super price, I guess if you tell enough people that you have a vise vice that sooner or later it will pay off. McB its a 4 foot base. Drives you have better eyes than me! Thank you for filling that in, any more info will be appreciated.

Don"t know how or if this fits in, but my 4" Schiller Park bullet has no date stamped on it. I thought possibly that someone turned the key over, but I took it out and looked-no stamp on either side.

Apdl, thanks for posting!

Mbsinmich, perhaps the key was replaced or it just never got stamped. Looks like 1960's to me.

I added both to the database.

BB: how many vises are on the Excel sheet now? thanks again for taking on the huge task. do you happen to have pictures of all the different styles of Wilton Bullets with maybe the years that they were made because you seem to know all the little changes like the two digit zip code?

Audi: yes yours is a January 1973. Funny i was 17 years old then and i don't feel much older now. thanks for posting it.

Drives, over 220 vises so far. I don't have pictures of the differences. If I did the spreadsheet over again I would add more information including markings on the static and dynamic jaws.

Dug up this 1946 No.4 from my dad's shed the other day and gave it a makeover. It was locked up tight. Date stamp looks to have gotten a glancing blow, but it appears to be 4-46.

Here is my 8-46 Wilton vise.

Picked it up for free at a garage sale.

The jaws measure 4 1/2" across. What number vise is this? Are replacement jaws available?

It locks up tight, and is very, very tight.
