Sure can, this is the home and shop. We placed them like this on the lot, with the shop the same angle but slightly farther back than the house. We were limited on what we could do with this much footprint, we have wetlands on one side, forest, septic system etc. on the other, so fitting it all in and still getting what we were looking for was a challenge after we decided on what we wanted that could still afford to build. House is deceiving, looks much smaller than it is. It took up a 64x61 foot piece. Shop is 34 wide and 30 deep. Going to have only a utility sink in it at this point. What we liked so much was this chunk of land, (private gravel road, backed up to a hillside) we knew we needed to build on it, even though we never wanted the hassle of it, and it's been a hassle every step of the way, but worth it, at least to us anyway. It's peaceful here. Deer that we have watched from just after birth until now, they come through almost every day. Day of excavation, the long driveway back to the shop that we really didn't want, but otherwise the shop was in the trees, that's a mess as much rain as we have here.

Looks great. It's nice to have so many trees around the property too.

Looking forward to more photos.

Framers are here, floor going in. They say it'll be dried in by the end of this month. they have up to three weeks to complete, they claim some they do in a week, then call for the roofers. We like the sounds of that.

Is that PVC piping drainage for the rain gutters?

Yes, rain drains for all the downspouts. Trying to keep as much water away from the buildings as possible. We get lots of rain and we have a very high water table here as well. They put a low-point drain in the crawl space as well, just in case it's ever needed.
They finished the post and beam on the house today and got all 4 walls of the shop up. They seem to be moving right along.

Yes, rain drains for all the downspouts.

Excellent idea. I wish they had done that when they built my house. If I ever get a chance to build a house that will be one of my requirements. The condensation from my HVAC system drains right onto the ground next to the house and in the summer it's always wet in that spot. I'd pipe that into the rain drain as well.

That's another great idea I hadn't thought about. Our excavator actually did all the rain drains, the pipe through the foundation to the septic tank, the water line through to the well , the water line to the shop and the phone line to the house too. The rain drains didn't cost that much, around $700.00, they lay them along the foundation before the back-fill takes place. Some of the best money we spent, I'm sure.
Our last house sank on one corner due to bad drainage, downspouts just pouring out. By the time we bought it, it was corrected, but the foundation still needed fixing, so I did that part.

You know you can retrofit downspout drain pipes. It takes some work and makes a temporary mess, but so what. I've done this sort of thing numerous times. Just rent a trencher and go to it. If you're fortunate to be able to take the pipes to lower ground then you're all set. I use 4" solid pvc. Works well! Every one of my downspouts dumps out at least 100 feet from the house.

Tom

ps - much easier if done when building! I did this with my garage addition.

They seem to be moving right along, must be a really good crew of workers.

They move pretty fast when they're here. These pictures are less than 5 days work for the framers. After today it's almost framed inside. Trusses are coming Monday they tell us.

Down here in Texas we have to water our foundation in the summer to keep it from sinking :eyecrazy:

Looks like great progress!

After a week and a half the siders are done. He asked me on the last day how big this place is....he said "we keep working and working and we aren't getting finished". He said they don't tell him the size they just show him the layout when he takes the job.

Very nice, good work on the land. I wish i had that garage space!!

Just a question because im a plumber, The water lines run in the crawl? Around here in a house like that they would be in the ceiling, with insulation over. But it may get alot colder here..

Thanks. Yep, they are in the crawl. Doesn't get that cold here, a night in the teens is really rare. These lines are Pex. They ran them through the joists.
